If a Mazda dealer does the install NO.

If not then they would have to prove the problem was caused by the the part.

625 for the install? Wow..and the part costs what, 700+ too? Whew.. are the gains from the MS flywheel worth that?

Dont mean to sound rude, but I was contemplating the same action, but am not sure its worth it performancewise... hmm.

Not all Mazda dealerships are certified Mazdaspeed dealerships. EVERY dealership though will install it. It's better to purchase it offline anyways so there isn't a middle person. Also 625 is waay to much. Go to a different dealership and see if they'll do it.

Dealerships always overcharge on installation, from Air Filters to Fly Wheels. Depending on where you live, in California, they have this strict policy of having to charge a minimum of 1 hour of labor, even if the installation only took 10 min or less (depending on what they're installing of course). Labor runs between $65 to $95 per hour, sucks!

For that amount of money, I'd better break the warranty...
seriously, I have the flywheel sitting around at the garage right now. I won't pay more than 250euros

If we take care of the car, it won't break down the first 3years or within the first 100,000km...
To hell with the dealers....

Don't know if rotaries are any diffferent than piston motors when it comes to attaching the flywheel, but the first flywheel I did on a piston engine didn't take more than 6 hrs. ($600/$95 per hour). I can't see why the labor would be for so many hours.

The cost of the part is worth it, the labor is a little shady. Had mine on for over 4 months and definetly worthwhile buy, over responsiveness of the car is a lot better and it revs sooo smooth can't believe i drove it without it.

On a side note, I paid 380 for the install, recommend you doing this when you get your clutch replaced so you can do it all at once...

yea pretty shady some dealers are seriously gouging, taking advantage of the fact that it retains warranty

Also, who knows if it really takes them as long as they claim it would take to install anything. I'd figure since they work on similar cars all day long, they probably would of master the skills by now, like installing a flywheel. If you do it long enough, you could probably shave 6 hours down to 4 hours or less =P who knows

Sheesh, my dealer don't even know an MS flywheel exists. They claim they can't order it since its only available for Japan Mazdaspeed 8s. Jeez.

So I ask them if I can produce the genuine MS Flywheel, how much would it be to install. "Oh, it should be the same rate as a repair and rebuild of clutch which is 4-6 hours which translates into about 600-700 bucks.

ARGH. Guess no MS flywheel for me.

Got back from the dealer today, he told me about 4h job to install it and about 160-180euros.

Nice price but he said warranty for tranny/engine ends, cuz they don't import MS parts in my country. F*ck
