Cool MS Dual Muffler Exhaust Install Price ?

I just called my local mazda dealer in Brandon, FL and they told me they have never installed a mazdaspeed exhaust before on an 8 ... wtf ? .... said he is going to call me back when he speaks w/ his "master technician"

The dealership I bought the car from in Tampa, FL quoted me an install price of $60, not bad right ? Oh well they are both "Ferman Mazda" so it better be the same or Ill at least ask him to match the price from the one in Tampa ... for all you guys that have the Dual Muffler Sport Exhaust how much were you charged for the install [ or did you do it yourself ? ]

Mine is suppose to be delivered today, and I will be installing myself tomorrow. From what I hear on the board, it really isn't that bad of an install, just getting the stock one loose from the rubber hangers being the difficult part.

Word, well if I weren't so apprehensive about this kind of thing I might attempt the install myself. This guy sounds like an idiot, he just called me back and said he cannot find the part number in the MS catalog and I had to freaking give it to him off the Rosenthal site. I might as well take it to the one in Tampa or just install it myself. I dont want somebody that does not know that it even exists bolting it on to my baby.

smh .....

yea i wouldn't trust a mazda tech that doesn't know how to install a simple bolt-on exhaust.... go to a dealer that can actually do it

and $60 sounds about right for labor charge for such a job...

Alright so I finally got ahold of somebody that knew about the new dual muffler setup. They, however, quoted me an install time of 2 hours as opposed to 1-1.5 and a price of 80 to the previous price of 60. He's going to call the other Ferman dealership to verify and hopefully I will be able to get it for the same price w/o the long drive !

They keep dicking me around. I called them back and they said they would "match" the tampa location's price at 127 dollars or something insane like that.

Im so getting tired of this. I then contacted the Tampa location to confirm the original quote, they said they would call me back ONCE AGAIN and have not done so.

I think I might just transform into irate 8 owner tomorrrow

My car was hit from behind and is in the shop for repairs, the muffler was damaged and need to be replaced. The repair shop is letting me substituted a MS dual muffler instead of the OEM. When we talked about this they mentioned 2 hours to replace the old system from the cat back. I assume 2 hours is pretty accurate, hope this helps.

You may want to consider doing it yourself. You can buy all the tool's needed for less than $127. All you need is a can of spray lubricant, a small flat head screw driver (or butter knife), a large flat head screw driver, a crow bar, a crappy socket set, and 2 jackstand or blocks of wood.

Total install time was less than an hour. Keep in mind I've never swapped out an exhaust, and I managed to drink a couple of beers in the process.

30 minutes is a stretch for someone that's never done it before.

why not go to your local muffler shop? it'll take them 30 minutes. they do it 20 times a day.

Well, I also asked the dealership about the warranty code for the dual MS exhaust. He told me it would not be hard to install but did not give me a straight answer as to whether or not it would void the warranty.

I wish i could just get a straight answer out of these *****.

Yeah, 30 min is a big unrealistic. Especially with the hangers on this car. Plan on an hour, and if you've never done it before, about 2 hours should give you plenty of time.

hahaha...the first time i installed the greddy SP2 on our fellow member flyboi1121's 8...took about 2 hours...first, we didnt get enough lube all inside the rubber, then we didnt have the right deep socket size for the bolts that connect to the midpipe so i spent about 30mins trying to loosen it with a wrench...then when installing the SP2, the opposite side hangers kept on falling off from the rubber cause there was tooo much lube and flyboi1121 didnt think to give me a hand...thats what happens when you work without the right tools and mechanically challenged people xP

cant wait til i install my MS exhaust this weekend...im gonna have a hell of a time...think of how hard it will be since i broke my left wrist and right forearm in december and still recovering

oh by the way, if you dont wanna install it yourself, manekie? or how ever its spelled installs it for around $40

Id say do it yourself. It's a great feeling when you finish a project/install like that, especially when you can hear and feel the results right away.

Don't worry about warranty it's just a catback exhaust. To void your warranty they would have to prove that the exhaust cause the damage to whatever was damaged.

30min is optimistic if this is your first time. But I took it off and on 4 times now and it's pretty simple. The hangers are tough but if you use the right type of lubricant + a flat head and spray a generous amount those hangers slide like butter.

Well I spoke with mazda in Tampa again and confirmed the 60 dollar price. Seems like I might just be best off having them install it, and that price is not bad at all IMO.

I just hope they dont pull anythin new once its already on and Im ready to leave !
