Misaligned Borla exaust

So I just put on my Borla catback ( have BHR Midpipe) and the exaust tips do not match. The left side (from back) protrudes out 1" further (from shroud) than the right side.

All hangers are connected and hang plumb. Also, it seats to the mid pipe just fine. So it seems that the problem is coming from the bend just before going into the muffler. It does not seem to be an install problem as I have messed with all 3 connection points and nothing changes.

Has anyone else run into a similar situation?

Its hard to hold this and take a picture by myself but you get the idea. It is VERY noticable

Could someone else please do the same and let me know how far they stick out? Idk what "normal" is because Ive never seen a Borla on an RX8 in person before

I have installed a few Borla cat backs and never had an issue. Stock midpipe?

No, BHR. Which worked just fine with the stock catback

Yeah, some times it just take some adjusting but two locals have the BHR/Borla combo with no fitment issues. Has the car ever been wrecked?

Hell no, shes perfect. As far as adjusting, short of putting a slice in the muffler feed pipe, bending it, welding it back up, there is nothing else. If I bend the hanger rods, its just going to stretch the rubber mounts. Ive already tried moving both connection points on the Borla and it did not change anything

Also, it would help if I knew how far out the tips should actually be. That way I will know if the bend in the main pipe is tweeked, or if its just the one (removable) tip.

I've got the same setup, OP. I can do a measurement this evening when I get off work.

most likely a fabrication mistake

The way it is mounted makes it difficult to be an install error

Is it in the car?

If you measure from the rear hangers on both sides it will give you a reference if the mufflers hang straight. Otherwise it could be a little bit out in a couple of places that result in it out a lot more on that one side

Sorry for not getting back to this. I was going to measure the same way you did but I couldn't find a square.

From my eyeball vantage point, mine hang perfectly even, so I can see it being a possible fabrication error. Great that they're sending you a whole new kit, though! Knew I liked my Borla for more than just its sound :D

David Borla is actually a member here.

Very involved when the car was first on sale, and seems like he cares....

Borla is the ****. It's so refreshing to see companies who still get it.
