MazdaSpeed & Warrenty

Greetings,

Does anyone know if you have to purchase the mazdaspeed parts from a mazdaspeed dealer for them to be covered under the factory warrenty? Friend of mine wants the lightweight flywheel and the dealers are back ordered for months. Much easier to order it elsewhere and have a Mazdaspeed dealer install it. Thanks!

My local Mazda dealer told me I had to buy it at the dealership and have it installed at the dealership to keep the flywheel and more importantly any part associated with the flywheel under warranty.

Thanks! I also believe that the dealer needs to be Mazdaspeed Cerified in order for the warrenty to apply. Appreciate you taking the time to answer the question. Take care!

I was under the impression that you any MS parts needed to be installed by a Mazda/MD certified dealer or service center. Not that you needed to buy from them as well.

You can buy them anywhere you want, they just have to be installed by a Mazda dealer...

From the MS Ruler himself cortc, - he is right. You can buy from anyone, but the install has to be at a Mazda dealership. And it does not have to be the same one you bought the car from either.

SWEET! Because the dealers are all backordered for the flywheel parts. Can get the mazdaspeed flywheel from an aftermarket dealer much quicker. Thanks for the assistance guys!

Did you try the two vendor dealers in the vendors section?

Cortc, I'm thinking this MS flywheel needs to be on my car also. Should I do it before the MS full suspension? As in biggest bang for the buck?

Both those mods will make a difference, I would do suspension first then flywheel... (Actually that’s the order I did mine...)

You will not be disappointed; the other day I took a stock 6sp 8 out for a drive since it had been a few months since I drove a stock one... What a difference, it is like driving a stock WRX then jumping into an STI... My car is a completely different car now; the difference is amazing... I drove my x-996 the other day and the RX8 is now a much better car, she handles better, brakes better and is razor sharp...

When I get done with the engine mods and the rest of the lightweight parts, I will put her up against just about anything on a track...

I will try the vendors listed on this site tomorrow once their business hours open up. I appreciate your help cortc. It's a major plus having someone with mod exp help out with these simple questions.

Check out this link from the Mazda Motorsports website for info on all currently availible Mazdaspeed products in the US, costs, and warrenty descriptions. It's a link to a .pdf file with all the information.

Here is yet another warrenty related question. How does the Canzoomer Stage 1 effect the warrenty of the vehicle? I'm debating on getting it for my 8. Thanks for all the great input so far guys/gals. It's much appreciated.

It would most probably void your powertrain warranty if they found out...
