Mazdaspeed Dual Sport Exhaust Rattle
I have had my new ms dual sport exhaust installed for about 2 weeks now and I have been noticing a rattle over the last week. The rattle occurs only at idle after the engine is warm. The rattle seems to be coming from the slip joint / clamp on the exhaust. Recently I loosened up the clamp and attempted to reseat and torque down the clamp to the 30 ft-lbs called for in the spec. This did not seem to quiet the rattle, so I increased the torque on the clamp feeling that this was the source of the rattle. Still did not solve the problem. I took the rudementary approach and tapped on the clamp in several directions with a hammer to see if the clamp would seat itself better, but still the same result.
Anyone else have a similar problem with this exhaust or any other aftermarket exhausts? Any thoughts or solutions, it is start to drive me nuts. Thanks.

i have a light rattle too, never bugged me too much. But when I step on the tips the rattle stops. I haven't completely solved the problem. But I would speculate that the noise is coming from the muffler end.

Well I still have been unable to resolve the rattling issues of the mazdaspeed exhaust. I have narrowed it down to the clamp. It seems as if the metal insert between the two butt ends of the clamp is ratting against the exhaust or the clamp itself at around 750 rpm. I have done several things to attempt to dampen the sound, but to no avail.
I was contemplating removing the clamp altogether. Do you think this will cause sealing issues at the slip joint? After having the exhaust on for several weeks, it seems that the joint has sealed itself after having the clamp torqued down.
On the other hand, does anyone know of a good replacement clamp that can be used in the place of the one supplied. The measurement on the clamp says 63.5 mm, which is 2.5 inches (outer diameter).
Any help is much appreciated.

no i have the same thing. i am guessing you have the stock bumper, so what is happening is that the muffler is rattleing on the stock bumper. so just push down with your foot on the side that is rattleing and there you go it is just hitting the bumper trust me.

i don't know about that, i have the ms rear and mine is rattling like crazy. I think it's the flange... I don't have the ms exhaust though but that's what i'm suspecting..
