So more surface area and deaper is more efficient for airflow? I know it is for filtration-but I would have thought that it would be more restrictive on the air flow side. Not trying to question you or talk down--I'm genuinely curious.

I don't think you get that kind of horsepower--you definately won't if the element is paper. Realistically you will net maybe 5HP. You see more gains on a turbocharged car with intake mods.

For airflow, if you have a larger tube or in this case a larger filter surface area this = more air flow... This filter is rated at 10-15% better flow depending on air velocity...

I have one delivered to my office today. I love it - it is dry type, look cotton like more than the stock paper like. Did not say what kind of material in the infomation sheet comes with the box?!

It says here that for engine protection and max performance, should clean the filter every 10000km and change every 30000km. I know the Japanese like to change things when they are reaching 90% old, but how to clean the air filter? With a vaccum cleaner? :p

I have the green filter in mine. It's a drop in replacement for the OEM, but it's not made from paper. Green definately allows much more air to pass than the stock filter. Butt dyno doesn't notice anything, but 2-5 hp isn't very noticable.

these meaning? In Australia it is hard to get MazdaSpeed parts so I use japanparts.com but in US better go with Canzoomer or even call local dealer for it. For greens is there a greenfilter.co.uk?

I got mine from this guy:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33659

but if you buy from him directly instead of the BIN, you can save a few bucks.

By the way... I know this is an old thread... how was your mazdaspeed air filter? how do you clean it, every 10,000km? with air pressure gun or vacuum cleaner?

Yes I am into my 2nd filter, just drop it in after 20000km. I did give it a clean with vaccum cleaner everynow and then. I have an Odula intake as well, and that has brought lots of dust and dirt onto one side of the filter, the other side is AOK, no dust, no dirt.

You can see the major transition gradiant. And it is white paper. So any oil go flush back to the filter will stain up nicely, an indication that you need a oil catcher. But mine is pure white as the new set.

The oil filter is simple and no need to oil them. They will last over 30000km if you do not have an air duct like mine.

I don't think Mazdaspeed filter is a good choice. It's much expansive than the OEM one but bring nothing change (even in sound).
