Can anyone read Japanese?
Now I KNOW you have too much money to spend. :)
Is it reusable or one time use?
One time, but it is very clean around here so it should be good for about 20K miles...
Where does it go... to the airbox or in front of the glove box...?
Airbox...
does it show any HP gains?
Where did you get it? I want one.
Had Canzoomer order it for me from Japan, it is like the other high flow drop-in filters; good for 2-5hp...

Japan8: No, no translation needed, just messing around? But if I ever do I know where to go thanks...:)

Yes and the other guys like green/knn say 7-10hp, but they are oil filters and I am not a big fan... I am going all Mazdaspeed...
You know, getting the filter in and out on the RX8 is a pain...
I don't think Auto Exe's is an oil... it is made of the same materials as the Mazdaspeed (and is a hair less expensive).
With the setup you are aiming for, better off to get the MS filter and keep with the MS kit parts. |
Oh, then the Auto Exe is cool... It's going to be all Mazdaspeed, unless they don't come out with a supercharger than it will be all Mazdaspeed + ?
Installed, it is a little louder and throttle response is better... I would say 2-5hp...
I installed the K&N Drop in and I noticed slightly louder-and quicker response--however; is the Mazdaspeed air filter paper? Because if it is I don't see how it differs from the stock paper air filter that is slightly restrictive, save for the Mazdaspeed emblazoned on the side. The Green Filters and K&N use a proven higher flow element.
I have used K&N filters in the past and don't like them... Oil filters all shed some oil that eventually coats the inside of the intake tract and MAF sensor and degrades performance... Oil filters are old tech that was designed in the days of carbureted race engines and is not a good choice for fuel injected cars... (Of course if you are K&N you may say otherwise…) A well designed paper element with a larger surface area will flow better than stock and provide a performance increase that is consistent without contaminating the intake tract beyond the filter...
This is why OEMs do not use OIL impregnated filters, nor do I... |
hrm i wish you had access to a dyno, so every mod you do would let us know if its seriously worth the investment.
cortc is building his very own Mazdaspeed RX-8 here in the states part by part :P If he went for the Mag Mazdaspeed rims then it would have been even more bling bling than it is already.
I thought that we are talking about air filters cortc? I don't use K&N oil filter, but I endorse their air filter elements. The mazdaspeed one looks to be paper and that is less efficient for air flow--it looks just like the stock one from the pics.
Much more surface area, deaper and more open pleats...
