my car did not come with traction control, so theres not much of a diff in it. im installing a exedy hyper single clutch and flywheel, so i figured i would do the diff at the same time

I thought I read somewhere that the re-amemiya lsd is made by Kaaz?
Cusco makes a LSD for the 8, based on Upgrade motorings site. I thought Kaaz did as well, but the their site doesnt show a listing.

ive ordered several things from naps usa (the distributor for cusco) and they've never mentioned a lsd for the 8 when i ask all the available parts for it, but i will check with them agian. kaaz shows on their price list rx7/8 which i think means it works for the 7 as well as the 8. im callin them later today to find out for sure

you were right on cusco makin a diff for the 8, its a 1.5way but can be configured to be a 2way if your serious about track or drifting. the diff is the same one for the rx7 so i would say pretty much any diff you find for a 7 (which im sure theres a ton of)will work for the 8.

i take it to mean that you can select it to be a 1-way, 1.5 way, or a 2 way l.s.d. anyone else have any thoughts? i e-mailed mazdaspeed..but it might take a few years to hear back from them.

i would say that your right army, but i doubt you really select it to change, i would think that you have to physical change the diff by adding or moving parts. an electronic diff like a sti's for example would prove to be quite a task to install.

Your car doesnt have traction control so it doesnt have much of a diff anyways? Every rx-8 6spd has the same differential, I hope your not getting this for traction issues, because the lsd will still break loose just as easily as the stock one.

:D no problem i would just go with a ms 2 way...haha but good luck trying to get any info from them on how much power it can take befor it has issues...well not liek we are gonna see any 500whp monster 8's any time soon. haha i'd be happy with 350 myself and i'm sure it can take that.

to answer rotaryred i want it to break loose but i want both tires spinning instead of one. and since the lsd is the same for the 8 as the 7 dont think theres much to worry about in breaking one.

only have to worry about braeking it if you use it with more power or in ways it wasn't meant to be used:D i.e. use it in a 900 hp monster when it's only good up to 350 (ok that was unrealistc in teh 8..hah a900...that'll be a while off)....or drive it like you stole it 24/7. i'm sure it'll get some crazy wear and tear then.

haha yea...and has anyone seen their 900 hp car (which wasn't to the wheel by the way)..i've never seen a dyno..nor a time slip..nor hear of it actually putting all of that to the ground. soooo until i do..it' sjust a dream in my book. besides they changed out the engine and the whole drivetrain.....lsd, tranny, lsd, engine....everything was different..only the car body was an rx-8 basicly. woudl be nice if it worked. but last tiem i checked they've been tryign to sell tha tthing off and on since they anounced it....still no takers:p

I may be new to RWD Performance cars, but for the year that I have had my RX8, any time I break the tires loose, I get both tires going. If I do a brake stand, I end up with 2 VERY even strips of rubber on the pavement. I realize that a Torsen differential that all the 6 speed 8's come with doesn't guarentee one spin, one wont, but so far, I have found very few (read, not one) situation where one wheel was spinning when the other wasn't.
Even with one tire on snow and one on dry, I was able to accelerate pretty well...
Yes, i have traction control, but I turn it off before I do anything crazy :-P

Understand what you've already got before you waste money replacing it with something that will behave exactly the same!!!
