K&N V.2 causing problems?

I have had a k&n v.2 intake on my car for sometime now, probably over a year and a half or so.
Approx. 5 days ago my cars timing was all off. while in neutral the idle would go from 500rpm up to 1200rpm and fluctuate up and down. sometimes dropping all the way down and the car would stop running.
I thought it might've been because I have an agency power exhaust with a cat delete pipe. So, i go and take my car to a muffler shop and have them put on a cat. converter (250$!!!!)
It's still running like dog crap even after that (but my car doesn't stink anymore and no more CEL...so that's good)
So i get home, jump on this site and look how to reset the computer. I go out to my car and run both procedures on resetting the ecu.
I turn the car on and it immediately dies.
I do this several times and it keeps dying unless i'm pushing on the gas while at idle.
I start to flip out and i drop my car off at the dealership for two days.
They call and tell me they fixed it, but that the problem will keep happening because the diagnostic that they ran says that the Mass Air Flow sensor (which is on the K&N v.2 intake) is too far from the throttle body. and that i need to buy the mazdaspeed intake for 440$ from them. i told them i didn't have the money just yet to buy it.
my question is....is there any validity to their statement? is it then K&N intake or what???????
anyone else ever have this problem?

Yes theKN is crap... but you probably have a bad neutral switch.

Do a search.................

ok, so if that's the case that it's the neutral switch. is that the reason my clutch is so damn squeeky lately?
secondly, how did they fix it then? they didn't tell me that they replaced the neutral switch and now they say it's fixed and it's been running great all day. no hard idle or anything? maybe they replaced it and just didn't tell me what was wrong with it. they said they warantied something out.

It's the screens, I had the same problem too. Put both screens in and it will smooth it out. And there is a TSB for the squeaky clutch.
