Just ordered some parts...

i just ordered my B&B midpipe from the RX8 Store. also ordered my K&N typhoon intake, x-men spoiler and clear corners......should all be in by friday or next monday.

just curious as to if anyone has used the B&B mid pipe and if any noticable gains were acheived.

my girl has the typhoon intake and greddy catback exhaust which i might add sounds very nice(coming soon to my car). but she just barely pulls me when we get on it...maybe its her driving skill... :p not sure but we'll see.

should have some pics up as the mods get added.

also what is the deal with all the "flashes" i'm reading about. talk to me like a two year old cause i'm very slow! thanks for any feed back!

The mid-pipe plus K&N plus a catback will be VERY VERY loud from what I hear. You might gain 10 HP after all of it, if I remember correctly.

The RX-8 has a computer called an ECU (engine control unit). It has software that must be "flashed" to upgrade, as it is stored on a type of chip called Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM). The different versions of the software have long strings of numbers with a letter that changes each version. Basically, all the numbers were dropped and we identify them by the letters that are different. Each flash brought changes to the fuel maps, and some other stuff.

Now, go read the sticky threads at the top of the forum that deal with the different versions. There is plenty of info already available about each flash.

i have the rx8store exhaust and typhoon intake and i had the b&b midpipe and it was way too loud, sounded a little raspy also. i had to take it off because it became annoying. I did notice a power increase more then i did when i put on the cat back and intake though. but it was just too loud. i think the car sounds perfect with the catback and intake.

yeah, thats what i was told...but i'm going to combine it with the Greddy exhaust...should just help deepen the sound a little...hope that isn't overkill though with the size difference...oh well...its all about trial and error!!!

ugh, the dreaded x-men spoiler.....bleh!

And from what I have seen, the K&N filter is nothing but an increase in noise. That is why everyone and their mother is trying to sell theirs in the "RX8 Parts For Sale" section.

At least you're getting the clear corners.

well i dont have the k&n intake but it just not noise its been proven by racing beat .they did some dyno runs with the k&n and it did make the hp they claimed 10 hp.some people are having rough idles and are selling them for that reason and yeah it way to loud.

yeah just talked to the dealership today and i think i am going to scratch the intake...put that money towards the Greddy exhaust. i'm reall y not worried about it being loud, i don't have a lead food like my girl and drive around everywhere redlining it. i can hear up to a mile away cause she takes it to redline everywhere she goes...kinda funny watching her drive...and scary!

no offense, but the Xmen spoiler looks like it's upside down. it is not complimentary to the car.

if you post a thread about something like this, you can't expect everyone to say they love it. sorry if you were looking for some type of approval from fellow members or something.

Racing Beat does not claim a 10 hp increase for the K&N intake. They said that K&N claims the gain and that the posted dyno chart is from K&N and not Racing Beat.

suprisingly i found that with the exhaust, midpipe, intake combo the car seemed its loudest during low rpm's under 5000, so that made it even worse and highway driving was a bitch.

too big, 3" or more. you can fire friggin canteloupes out the tail pipes.

sounds not too bad, but IMO looks... well, could definitely be better. with the midpipe, it'll be pretty dang loud.

finally got my internet back...

well my "ugly" x-men spoiler came in yesterday and i threw it on today...LOVE IT!!!! IMO i think it accents are cars very well!

ordered my Greddy exhaust today and the shop called to tell me it was on backorder for 6 weeks...WTF??? but the guys at Gotham Racing are the ****!!! and were nice enough to drive an hour to an alternate distributor and personally picked up my greddy exhaust and got it today!!! these guys rock!

still waiting on the mid pipe to some in...should be at my old place tomorrow, and if i can get hold of my friends lift then all we be thrown on today or tomorrow...i'll borrow my friends digital camera and get some pics of the car on the lift during the install...

if i can figure it out...i'll get some sound bytes on here to. its that new bad *** sony camera so i'm not sure if it picks up sound too.

i am also well aware of the possible raunchy sound this combo might put out...its a small sacrafice to get 2 more HP though!!!

That's pretty cool of them to go pick it up. I'm sure they just drove from fort worth to garland or rowlett to pick it up from RX-7.com (Rotary Performance) or Marvelspeed. We have so many Rotary tuning shops in DFW, they always have parts.
