Thumbs up Just installed Agency Power catback + midpipe

I returned from my first ride with AP full exhaust (it includes a cat delete pipe for those who are not aware) and wanted to share.
I am still wearing this big stupid smile that everybody has when he shoots flames for the first time hehe (except he is an anti-ricer)
Yeah, it's REALLY loud, if you are not into this thing or this is your only car for daily drive don't put the midpipe on. I personally love it.
The ti-tips are huge btw, and value for money is gross.
I recommend it to all the "extreme" guys but definately a no no exhaust for the "politically correct" RX-8 owners!

Wath the exhaust shrouds, they tend to get melted with the AP Exhaust siting just a bit lower....

Thanks for the advice, my exhaust sits low but I have the exhaust finishers that will prevent the shrouds upon the tips from melting and stain those beautiful tips.
Some minor melting will occur at the lip-edge of the shrouds under the tips but I don't care as it will not be noticeable.

Btw, I just returned from an interesting ride in the mountain roads. For those that like corners with sideways our roads are ideal for this, super slippery, sharp turns but also open and long curves.
No one is driving there at night, and my exhaust sounded like a beast in the total silence

so how much horsepower do you figure you've gained? i know its hard to just come up with a number but is your car noticeably faster?

I have the same package... with the midpipe installed, you can notice a difference. Less restriction at lower RPM and my friend (who I raced before and after the AP exhaust was installed) said he noticed that I pulled away from him quicker than I did with the stock header-back pipes (and he noticed the flames too).

Ummm... don't know why... restrictive/limited air flow caused by having a cat.
No cat = more flow through the exhaust...

Thank you for explaining the obvious. If you see I quoted the "less restriction at lower rpm" portion of your statement. The cat would be more of a restriction at high rpm and not much of one at low rpm. I cannot imagine you would see the gain in hp/tq on a dyno in the low rpms vs having a cat.

You are correct, the cat is more of a restriction at high RPM.
BUT, as I tried to explain, its a real noticeable difference at lower RPM too.
Have you ran your 8 with a midpipe to understand what I'm saying?

Nope. I can't stand being behind someone who has so I'm not about to add to the problem. BTW, I don't believe in global warming, the bogey man or Al Gore.

I respect that... especially the Al Gore statement
I think we've allowed this bickering to go on long enough... lets end it

By this time I saw all the 2008 posts on this thread so I will answer to all.
The exhaust finishers were from factory, and yes after some living together with AP exhaust they melt a little but I don't really care.
About horsepower gains I think I gained a little at high rpms but you know, with N/A tuning the gains are minor. I cannot really tell you because my tires are really worn so acceleration differences are not obvious anymore.
And yes, Renesis07, my car needs a wash most of the time, you can wash it for me if you care so much heh
