SR Motor Sports Ram Air Intake

I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these units B4?? I installed one about 2 months ago, and now I have the check engine light is on. It has come and gone couple of times already, but now it has stayed on for about a week now. I have not driven it too much as I live in the mountains in Colorado in ski resort and the rear wheel drive does not do to well in the heavy snow. Initially I emailed the manufactorer and they replied about the vaccume hoses?? All i did was remove one section of the curved metal connector and reconnected to another to complete the connection!! I followed their direction ( though it was very vague) as it did not show or tell how to deal with the vaccume hoses or some of the bracketing. If someone has delt with this B4 and have suggestions, I would be glad to take them. Thanks Jim

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but I need help and not supplying suggestion.

Do you feel like your car may be in limp mode?

Have you had the CEL pulled to see that the code is?

Just go with REVI, AEM, or mazda speed. Those seem to be the best.

Is there a good cheap short ram that i can go with or i have to spend 400$ for a full cold air intake ?
Wonder is rx8 worth buying a cold air intake, the stock one seems pretty good, if you guys know an intake who will do a noticeable difference plz link it to me.
Just bought a test pipe for my 8, is the cold air intake is a need to sniff more air since i can exit more?

The stock intake is fine. You wont notice much worthwhile (money:power) gains be it the AEM or REVi.

Weapon R is garbage, on more than one vehicle. I think they take the filter on a stick method, and max it out. There is a reason intakes on the RX-8 are expensive (not even really all that expensive relatively though), it's because the stock system is so good! They have to do a lot of testing to get an intake that actually makes power.

Thanks for that read 9k. I haven't really gone digging around their site too much other than looking at parts.

unless you go fi and need a custom intake, the stock intake is actually far better then whats out there for aftermarket. If you want something that looks different and sounds different then go for it.

Thanks i wont buy any cold air intake, the one that came with the 8 is good enough i will only add a test pipe then the axial short shift and the rest will be cosmetics.

^ If your gonna leave it oem, then just put K&N filter and you'll gain a little bit of horsepower and it will be your last air filter you'll ever use!

He's won't gain any horsepower from switching to a K&N panel. A K&N panel filters less than an OEM replacement. The only valid reason anyone should go with a K&N panel is the convenience of being able to clean and reuse it instead of buying new filters.

You will gain no usable HP and you introduce more dirt into your engine because it filters like ****. Don't you ever read anything? Don't give advise if you don't know WTF you are talking about.
