Talking Change Cold air intake yourself ?

Hi, i bought my rx8 6 months ago, very nice all good never flooded since and done oil filter every 5k miles adding oil every 2k. I have 89k kilometers on it and no problem so far, so i am searching for little boost nothing too expansive so i though of a cold air intake and a test pipe for a bit more torque and hp but i also want a more agressive sound. I have few question about those change and im pretty new to this forum and i dont know if i am at the right place to post.

my questions are :

1- is it safe to change the cold air intake on the rx8 using aftermarket because one of my friends told me to go at the dealer to do it but they are charging me 1000 canadian $ for the intake and the mech job. So im searching for someone who has bought a cold air intake on ebay or another website and that dosent had problem so far like idle problem and etc. and how did u replace it? did u keep the old air sensor or bought a new one ?

2- is the test pipe worth it ? for 300$~

3- what other safe improvement can i do on my 8 in the cheap range

1. You need to make new friends + you need to search for current price of CAI + who in their right mind would go to a dealership to install some aftermarket stuff.

2. depends. for me. no

3. Cheap? go buy another car.

Again, SEARCH.

Search, search, and search. All these questions have been asked time and time again.

You can install an AEM intake on your own in less than 3 hours (the first time).

Test pipes are loud. Get a resonated midpipe.

Cheap reliability mods? Good synthetic oil, BHR ignition, reinforced clutch pedal and Mazmart's water pump if your car sees plenty of high rpm fun.
All that stuff together costs around 1000$.

the least expensive mod you can do to a manual rx8 is the axial flow engineering short shifter. It will make the biggest difference to the feel of the car over any other mod in it's price range.

the afe ss is a mod that I'm looking to do, and everyone here that has one will tell you to get it lol
It makes the transitioning from gear to gear feel like a bolt action rifle (so everyone says). It won't improve anything other than feel. And that's why I think people like the mod, because everything about this car "feels" great

A reason why you're getting flamed is because people ask these questions all the time, and answers to them can be found easily by either using the search function, or else reading the stickies in the sub-forums. And, doing your own research will open up a broader range of knowledge to you about this car, making you love it all the more

I got my Agency Power midpipe not too long ago. I like it a lot. Made the power band much wider. It's not very loud (yet), but it is getting louder. Still pretty quiet.

Good grief dude .... really you need to slow down and do some reading.

If you go and install that test pipe ... I predict your very next post will be "How do I get rid of this cel?"

I don't like that short ram ... the Cold Air intake on the RX8 is very good to start with .. you at the very least want another good Cold Air Intake like the AEM or Mazdaspeed. That short ram intake will only suck hot engine bay air and that does suck.

Racing beat does the chip flashing thing ... and So does the Cobb AP with the Mazda Maniac Custom Service. I recommend one of those solutions.

I may also be putting up my nitrous kit for sale .... if my buddy doesn't install it on his lawn tractor
