Looking for top speed = open port
Looking for sprint = K&N fit in to the original airbox.
Looking for sound = use without filter
Better keep with stock. Save all the money and be patient for a BOT or supercharge. That's the ultimate final solution.

So far i like the K&N typhoon V2. Has a decent sound when WOT but then calms down completly during low to medium throttle. In addition to that since i put it in i don't have the "Milky stuff on dipstick issue" that i was having since i bought my rx8 in Febuary. The only way i would recommend this intake is if you want alot of sound as it is ferocious under WOT.

Yea, they pulled the intake off of my car because it was causing hesitation around midrange RPMS. Something to do with the sensors not detecting the air and allowing it to come through too fast, screwing with the gas/air mixture in the engine. The GM of the dealership that took it off is going to give me word about when I can get it put back on (as APPARENTLY there is an electronic hotfix out there). But I definately recommend the Mazdaspeed intake for sound and it put a LITTLE bit of a kick power wise (hardly notable, but a little anyhow..)
