Which intake

I realize that any intake i get wont give that much of a HP change so which intake wont lower my HP and in your opinion which one do u think SOUNDS THE BEST
K&N
AEM
ICR
Racing Beat
Mazdaspeed
Umitza/Simota
or Weapon R

XRX8X 04-26-2008 10:43 PM

K & N for that safe and sound respect.

mysql 04-26-2008 10:52 PM

intake for sound is a waste of time.

csl 04-26-2008 11:50 PM

Looking for top speed = open port
Looking for sprint = K&N fit in to the original airbox.
Looking for sound = use without filter

Better keep with stock. Save all the money and be patient for a BOT or supercharge. That's the ultimate final solution.

So far i like the K&N typhoon V2. Has a decent sound when WOT but then calms down completly during low to medium throttle. In addition to that since i put it in i don't have the "Milky stuff on dipstick issue" that i was having since i bought my rx8 in Febuary. The only way i would recommend this intake is if you want alot of sound as it is ferocious under WOT.

RedefineRX8 04-27-2008 01:51 AM

the OP question was asking for an intake that didn't destroy HP while making excess noise. The K&N is immediately eliminated from this conversation.

kersh4w 04-27-2008 10:08 AM

mazdaspeed = aem

LiL BenNy 04-28-2008 09:07 PM

aem is badass....

N rider89 04-28-2008 09:12 PM

weapon ARRRRR

froflip 04-28-2008 09:17 PM

...so the intake is not a good thing to do?

SoopaDoopa 04-29-2008 09:05 AM

An intake is alright alongs you're not going out and getting a K&N. AEM FTW.

yale02 04-29-2008 09:09 AM

I have heard that the dealerships are pulling the Mazdaspeed off the shelves and are not allowed to install them until further notice... Anyone know anything about this?

yelloRx8 04-29-2008 09:28 PM

well all i kno is im lookin at gettin an umnitza mainly cuz it sounds like a BAMF... look it up on youtube...jesus its sounds good... and if you go on their website its only 200 for the intake..

mysql 04-29-2008 09:29 PM

200 is how much horse power you're losing using it.

Yea, they pulled the intake off of my car because it was causing hesitation around midrange RPMS. Something to do with the sensors not detecting the air and allowing it to come through too fast, screwing with the gas/air mixture in the engine. The GM of the dealership that took it off is going to give me word about when I can get it put back on (as APPARENTLY there is an electronic hotfix out there). But I definately recommend the Mazdaspeed intake for sound and it put a LITTLE bit of a kick power wise (hardly notable, but a little anyhow..)

yale02 04-30-2008 09:49 PM

^ thanks for the update!

I wonder if I should pull mine out. I really don't feel like putting the box back in...
