You could try and get a MazdaSpeed Exhaust, then when you get pulled over, you can try and explain its a Mazda exhaust

Don't get a midpipe, Don't get an Exotic Speed Exhaust either. Check out Borla, they make very nice exhaust systems, which are not too loud.

Take off the stock exhaust and just run the CAT.

Have you thought of changing out the cat to a hi-flow like the RP Supercat and leave the stock cat back? That might be worth looking into if you don't want to get too loud.

I would get a Eacing Beat.

Great quality. And you won't have to worry about cops.

Don't get the Racing one as it is loud.

^I'm gonna have to second Razz's vote for Racing Beat. Great quality and its not very loud at all. I installed it with the RP Supercat and my car is still pretty quiet. Never been pulled over and I've never had anyone at the state inspection station say anything about it being too loud.

If noise levels concern you stay away from TXS and SP2 Exhausts

The exhaust on the 8 is pretty much for sound so if I were you I would just stick with stock.
