hks hi power single exhaust
#27
I'm trying to decide between HKS and Race Roots single exit. I've tried to find everything I could to compare. I've read that hks is the way to go except for the noise. I know it's hard to judge on YouTube but everyone says this is one of the loudest exhausts around. Is it too loud to have on as a daily driver? I love the sound but I'm worried that the noise will be to uncomfortable for dd. the car will see the track a few times a year. Are the sounds between race roots and hks that far off?

i like my rr, i got it when it was cheaper though before they raised the price.
it didnt touch my frame
i daily drive my car with the RB dual res midpipe. (if you are low, i suggest going with BHR, since the RB's resonators are ******* huge, ive flattened and gouged the front resonator like crazy from speed bumps/rocks, though its holding up great.)

I have had both. Honestly, not much difference in sound. I think the true test will come down to packing materials used in the muffler. Since RR is cheaper I'm assuming it might not last as long but I'm not too sure. I can say the RR is slightly bigger in diameter. Would love to have kept the HKS but since I could sell it for premium I capitalized on the opportunity.
I can tell you now though DO NOT pair with the AP midpipe.

If you are worried about how loud the exhaust will be neather are really a good choice.

thanks for the feed back guys. I personally dont care to much how loud it is but the track i go to sometimes has a 98 db limit so i wasnt sure how close to that it was. By the reply's it seems that everyone is running with a resonator. anyone bold enough to run just a race pipe? no cat or resonator.

When I put my cat back on recently I was very surprised at the noise level. I figured the exhaust would still be somewhat loud but it was whisper quiet compared to the midpipe.

Still going strong. Will take apart the exhaust after the winter season to check the auger for wear, but so far so good on noise suppression.

The resonator that is falling apart slowly is the front one so I plan on replacing that, if I keep this one.

That's what I was referring to. At some point, it's just better to get a pipe that doesn't have flaws so you can stop trying to fix the flaws of all the other pipes you try.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but i didn't see this combination.
I am running a RR "10CPI Catalyzer" midpipe and the HKS hi-Power. and it's loud as ****.
Although, noise and loudness is all relative. I haven't actually measure the db. (I lost my RS sound meter lol)
