you'll love the exhaust tone, especially after about a week or 2 break in. As for the single side its more of a personal issue because hardly anyone will notice anyways (especially on a darker rx8.)

In the end you'll get more compliments on the sound than complains on the single side

you need to team up with someone using a single exhaust exiting out the other side and split purchase these rear exhaust shrouds with grilles from me

I'm putting them up FS because I'm about to do a dual Supertrapp install to tame my noisey beast (too many damn noise restricted sites out here )

That looks pretty clean.. So does it dump out in the middle out of view?

will this exhaust lose any torque because of the lessened back pressure? (this is mainly directed at those who have dyno'ed this system)

You're exactly right, it's totally a styling issue. Dual exit exaust = sporty.

It would be very nice if one of the aftermarket companies would design a rear bumper to eliminate the extra shroud so it would look normal without the dual exhausts.

I've had the Hi Power sitting in my garage for about a month now waiting to put it on. The longer I wait the more I worry that I'm going to regret it, since I already have the RX8store resonated/catless midpipe. It's already loud enough with a dual muffler catback...

We shall see, I'm hoping it's not too bad because this would make my system nice and light. I could always weld in a cat in the rx8store midpipe if it is too loud, it'd still be lighter than the stock midpipe/cat, that thing is way heavier than necessary.

The latest TeamRX8 catback race exhaust weighs 4 lbs .... it was under 90 dB @ 50 ft at the last several events, unfortunately it resonates like a SOB inside the car at that high flow setting, it is adjustable

in the pic I posted with the grilled shrouds the exhaust dumps right after the differential. My entire exhaust; custom manifold, custom cat pipe, and custom catback all total only weighs 26 lbs. It doesn't meet sound limitations for the event sites where I recently moved too though, so I'm about to split the 3" outlet into two 2" pipes with dual Supertrapps extending the exhaust shrouds. I'll be taking one 3" muffler and exhaust sound valve off which will offset some of the weight being added. Total weight will probably increase to 30 -31 lbs, again for exhaust manifold to tailpipe exit.

Forgive me if I laugh out loud when I read your catback only weight ...

The shroud grilles I made myself ...

lol mad props to teamrx8 on his 'stop at nothing' attitude to save weight. me personally i don't know if i could live with the single tip design, esp. w/ the mazdaspeed rear.

however for the price mentioned earlier the HKS seems almost unbeatable......HKS parts are pretty much OEM quality.

Bastard! Nice choice!

Deedub has, I think, the same exhaust. I heard his car, in a youtube clip, and it sounded really nice. I'm starting to be a big fan of HKS exhaust myself.

Now you gotsta post a sound clip when you get it installed--kay?

if the dual tip thing is such a huge issue to people why don't they just go to a body shop and have them cover the shroud? dual tip exhuast will never flow as well, like deedub said the exhaust gases are slammed into a wall and not moved straight out. and if you look at any of the time attack 8s almost all of them have a single exhuast tip. even panspeed uses a single tip exhaust.

race teams use single pipe exhausts because a large single pipe will weigh less and is less hassle to fabricate than dual smaller diameter pipes
