HKS Hi-Power arrived!

UPS delivered my HKS Hi-Power single-outlet exhaust on Friday. This thing is LIGHT. Need to get on a scale myself but other members have recorded 23lbs!!
Thing is beautiful- typical HKS qualitly. Comes with an adjustable Titanium tip. For the cash it's an awesome deal.
I ordered it from HopUp Racing http://www.hopupracing.com/mazdarx8.html
Exellent vendor. $445 for the exhaust and free shipping! By far the cheapest I have found. Excellent communication and they answered all my questions within 12 hours.

I should have the exhaust on within the next 48 hours or less, hopefully.

The awesome box

exhaust!

standard tip

adjustable Titanium tip

it's very nice. HKS qualitly, and the lightest Stainless exhaust out there. To get any lighter you have go titanium which is very $$$

Oh yeah, it sounds awesome too. Goto www.youtube.com and search of HKS RX8- it will bring up XDub's vid he has of his HKS Hi-Power. That's what sold me on it.

Nice,
I'm thinking 'bout one of these too. I tried a search but couldn't find any definitive answer but is the piping on this system stainless steel? I know the muffler is.

the pipe is steel, but not polished. It's powdercoated black from the best I can tell. Very durable finish. The muffler, roughly 3" of tubing, and the tip are all 304 Stainless. The tip you can either put on or leave off is titanium (very little magnetic attraction).
Also comes with new gaskets and hardware.

Oh yeah, the hangers are stainless too.

is this exhaust mainly for FI set-ups or can it be used just as effectively with a NA motor?

HKS should pay you rolaties, XDub! You sold me on this exhaust. Well, you and the price. Cheapest RX8 exhaust out there, and made by an extremely reputable company that I'm proud to have on my car.
Can't wait to get it on so I can hear her for the first time!

Looks nice, but I think a single exhaust looks funny on an 8 without a lot of body work to the rear bumper.

Easier than installing an exhaust with dual tips. should take no more than 45 minutes tops

has anyone tested this exhaust on a turbo'd 8?
yes it has been tested and gained an additional 7 whp on average vs. a dual tip aftermarket exhaust.

if u guys can get over that dual tip crap than this is the exhaust for you. This car does not need dual tips. thats just excess weight.

anyone have any shots of this installed on a car with the Mazdaspeed rear under body spoiler? I am very tempted to swap this with my RB. Mainly because of that amazing sound and weight savings. Xdeedub, did you say that it also has a higher power gain over dual exhaust on a N/A rx8?

i have no pics of it installed on MS kit. but as far as power gains on a N/A rx8, they will be about as good as the hks legamax dual tip exhaust. It will not make anymore power than that. But when used in conjunction with a turbo kit, you will see notice a difference.

there shouldnt be a problem with that. The RP supercat fit fine with it. I'm running the stock cat with it as well.

it is louder by a few decibels.

Here are some comparison videos:

this is the old Legamax exhaust

this is the new hi flow exhaust in the same exact location

and hereis a new video of it on the dyno on a 6th gear run toppin out at 160mph+

Is this in reguards to the legamax?

This is a deceptive statement, in theory a dual tip exhaust with the same dia. pipe will provide better flow and better gains in a turbo application.

That test was done with a forum member's Turbo'd 8. The exhaust he had on for that test was not the Legamax. I can't recall exactly what he had prior to the HKS hi-flo, but I'm sure XdeedubbX will remember.

it was done with a jic titanium exhaust, we've discussed this before so be done with it already. Sometimes theory is not always what applies in actuality. Look at my sig..hahaha
