I'm not here to throw water on a fire but here are my experiences with the RP Supercat.

1. It does seem to make a little more power than the stock cat, but it's very difficult to measure because the car itself has its good days and bad.

2. I was an early user; mine didn't have the hanger. With the stock exhaust, it doesn't quite fit correctly without the hanger, and when the super cat heats up, it starts to sag and touch a cross brace and rattle. So get the stupid hanger; it should have been part of the design from day one. I wound up taking the hanger from my stock cat and putting it on the RP.

3. It definitely increases air flow and sound level but it also makes the stock muffler sound cheap in the process. When the engine warms up it sounds a lot better, but when the car is cold the exhaust system has a sort of rusty muffler sound.

4. It is about 10 lbs lighter than the stock cat/mid-pipe.

and the big one,

5. I get CELs. For the first 5 months (last summer) no CELs, but come winter, I would get CELs frequently. Sure enough the dealer said it was a "Cat not hot enough CEL". Anyway I thought "Heck, my inspection sticker is due in August so who cares. The CEL should be gone by then." Well, its June and I still get CELs at least 50% of the time. In Texas, if you don't have a CEL, they do emissions testing 100% just by monitoring the OBDII port to make sure the car's functioning properly. If you do have a CEL, you have to pass emissions on a dyno to prove your cat is working. Worse yet I think the size of the engine plays a role in the allowable emissions; for a "1.3 liter engine" the emissions alotment can't be much.

Would I buy the Super Cat again? Probably not. Others might have different experiences than me. I would definitely advise people not to throw-away their stock cat when they get the RP. You might need it again...

Are we waiting for a certain number of people to confirm their interest before the transcation start? What is the min number of people we are looking at?

Just need to know when can I pay and get the CAT?

And what is the final price?

If we buy soon, you can add my name to the list. I called RP store and they told me about this buy. Who is in charge of the buy? Lets do it!

This so-called group buy is like a headless chicken lol. It doesn't know where it's going... and no one knows even the price or when it's gonna happen. Priceless!

wow,
the advantage of a group buy is price... it will happen when it is ready.... if you want a deal you have to be patient.... if you are in a hurry buy it on your own..

and before you get pissy. the work that vice does is a lot. you might respect that....

i have dealt with him on two other group buys and that is why i recommended him... he does a great job...

I could be interested, that's why I'm reading...and have been since it started...but with no price, no delivery, etc ??? the thread and GB strikes me a bit strange.... I mean no disrespect... and I'm in no particular hurry (although our sucky summer season here is well under way) but most GBs I've looked into start w/at least some basic particulars...I don't know...just my opinion ... I can contiune to observe in silence if honest observations upset the applecart....

Thanks Scott!

Not for nothing, but I have not heard back from Chris @ RP with the price breaks. I left to go up to PA/NJ Friday and got back early this morning with still no email of pricing from RP. More over; I do not know if RP has paid the Group Buy fee that is required by the site's policies o conduct group buys.
As I said earlier, once the pleasantries are taken care of I will follow through with my commitment as I always do. My hands are tied at the moment. Even if I had free reign, I do not have the pricing from RP, so purgatory is where we all will sit until it comes in. I do not wish to pester RP, and if Zoom-Zoom 8 was told by RP to come here and look for the GB... it is quite clear they have not forgotten about us.
Scott really said it well... Patience for the good deal is what is needed with the buys....
Hell I waited 1 month to go up North for a good Deal on MS SideSkirts and Wing.
Patience everyone please... just be patient!
