H2O pump + t-stat + silicone hoses

pics from my mazmart pump install...

silicone radiator hose/OEM t-stat/Mazmart H2O pump

after draining the radiator and the block, remove the hoses and H20 pump pulley. loosen the 3 pulley bolts before removing the belt (makes it easier)

remove the nuts and bolts that attaches the pump to the block and pull the pump out

OEM vs. Mazmart

installation is reverse of disassembly

after disconnecting the hoses, remove the nut and 2 bolts on top and sides of the thermostat housing

pry the part from the air pump injector (on top of the t-stat housing) to the side to remove the t-stat housing

remove and replace...

autobahn88/ebay silicone radiator hose, good fitment except for the hose that goes to the t-stat housing... yoiu have to cut it about 1/2" and muscle it in to make it fit. no biggie, 'cause i'm a machito

ensure that everything's torqued down and no extra parts, re-fill with coolant (NPG-R in my case)

...I drove the car around for a little bit but I wasn't paying atttention to my scangauge II (in a rush to finish my errrands) but I'll post my observations tomorrow after I get back from work.

Ebay hoses FTW! Nice write-up! Remember to post your opinions and results on the pump!

Nice write up. Not exactly sure what "machito" means but it still sounded damn funny.

Since you made the Evans switch did you flush or drain the block? Also, what's the big a$$ radiator cap?

...so today was the first time I drove the car in a decent distance (75 miles, to/fro). it was fairly cool in the morning and I didn't notice any difference. On the way home, it was about high 70's to low 80's and during stop and go traffic, I noticed that the highest the coolant temp went was 189 except when I was at the drive thru wherin it went all the way to 209. Freeway temps were fairly low, highest was 186. I can't really tell if there was any increase in power but that would be a great bonus.

LOL, of course! flushed it with Sierra twice and than the prep fluid just to be sure. it might sound like an overkill but better safe than sorry.

...I think you just answered your second question

17mm deep well socket or shallow w/ extension to loosen the lower alt bolt
12mm for the tensioner, brackets and water pump
10mm for the 3 pulley bolts

...there's nothing wrong with the t-stat, I just figured I replaced it anyways rather than keeping the old one and end getting stuck on me. it's a $20 part so it's not that big of a deal, like I've said before... better safe than sorry

I suppose that's my question, why the need? I was under the impression Evans doesn't need pressure.
