Greddy Sp2 + RP midpipe= rice rumble
so i recently bought a used rotary performance resonated mid pipe and set it up with my greddy sp2. Now the the car sounds amazing under 4,000 rpms (full or slight throttle) exact, then under full throttle theres this rice rumble from 4-5k then it smooth out back to the nice sound agian. Now bolts are fine but i didnt use new gaskets. Are gaskets the problem ? or is it just what im going to get from a greddy + midpipe combo.

I tried changing the gasket 2 times and tightening the bolts but no results. I just figure that the air flow during those rpms aren't as stable and friendly flowing through but I think it's still great and I dont think about swapping it out.
I'm hoping to turbo one of of these days... and maybe that'll change it up a bit =P

I have the same combination, but I'm not sure what the "rice rumble" sounds like.
Regardless, I am happy with it and recommend the pair for anybody looking to upgrade their exhaust, big exhaust tips and all!!

well my driving habbits have changed its helps it keeps everydays shifts under 4,000 rpm. But it really kills the sound when it gets in betwen 4-5k. Oh and yea the power difference is there 4th gear on highways isnt useless anymore.

Lol yeah i have a midpipe + 2.5 inch piping exhaust , if i change out the piping and mufflers to 3 inch will it get rid of that "ricey rumble" sound? I dont really like it lol , and for me its throughout the whole rpm ranges unless i do very light acceleration. I think its the pipe size , any suggestions?

r0tor....i am thinking of getting the rp supercat on my car but i am gonna keep my stock exhaust...so my question is how do you like the sound from this combo? and does it shoot some nice flames? or am i better off just buying a catback? only reason i might wanna keep the stock exhaust with a rp supercat is cuz ive heard the gains from a catback are the same as just getting a rp cat with stock exhaust...any info will help thanks

As everyone else has confirmed I think that this sound is normal. I have the MS catback and rx8store hi-flow cat combo on my 8 and I have the sound you are describing during the same point in the RPM band. I would imagine it's even more exaggerated without a cat. Kind of embarrassing at times, especially when it's cold, but sounds great most of the time.
