Greddy exhaust install question (exhaust gasket)

I just picked up a used greddy exhaust from a member here. I just wanted to know if there is a gasket that goes between the muffler and the midpipe. I didn't get one and the stock one obviously is completely different so i went out and bought a 2.5" donut exhaust gasket. I'm wondering if that's even neccessary? Seems like the exhaust sticks out a mm or 2 further then i would like and i'm just wondering if that part is needed.

Thanks.

wanted two, i'm talking about where the muffler meets the midpipe, not where the midpipe meets the cat. There is no stock gasket.

ok, you used the wrong termanoligy. that piece is part of the exhaust not the midpipe. the midpipe contains the cat. to answer your question, yes there should have been a gasket there, a flat one with three hole two for the bolts and of course one for the pipe.
