GForce Performance Chip

Hey everyone. I'm new to here but I really need some help on this. I have a 2005 rx8 that is a slap-shift. I recently came across the gforce performance chip. Does anyone know anything about these? I'm not just talking about the first few results on Google, I need some straight forward detailed info about these things and whether it would hurt my 8 or not. I realize performance ships don't come close to what they claim they can do but I am looking for some good ways to boost my HP and mpg. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Oh.
My.
God.

Why did I spend hundreds of dollars on a proper tuning device when a simple cheap chip could have done it?
I must be stupid

From the factory, the 8 is VERY well tuned (mechanically). There are only 2 things you can do for easy power:
- AccessPORT custom tune to remove some of the "safe" parts of the tune
- Removing the naturally restrictive catalytic converter.

Don't get fooled by any "chips", ebay or otherwise. There is no "chip" for the RX-8 that will do anything beneficial. The best you can hope for is nothing at all...a costly metallic sticker on your ECU. You can easily fry your ECU with one though, and that is $1,600+. The only flawless method of improving the ECU is through an AccessPORT. Hymee's ProTuner software and brick is also capable, but there are still bugs at the time of this post, hard to come by, and it is possible to wipe your ECU accidently. The piggybacks such as Interceptor-X and GReddy's E-Manager are terrible for the RX-8. You can get it to run, kinda. But you won't be making more power than stock.
I suggest you follow the links as well and to gain a lot more info about this subject.

Seriously the biggest problem is that people don't realize they need two chips.

One for each ECU

Wcs, would I have to purchase two different chips or would they be identical?

Slidin8, if your serious and not being sarcastic, have you noticed any difference?

Goddesshunter, thanks for the links. Rather than having my ecu tuned, do you have any ideas of aftermarket parts that would help in HP and mpg gain?

We are having fun with you.

Don't use these chips.

It's a very hard and expensive venture to get more HP from RX8 ... period

Read the "noobs guide to modding" that is linked in the quote. You have quite a bit of reading to do. Read also the "new and potential owners start here" thread. Both are stickies in the "rx8 discussion" sub-forum.

You should do stand-up comedy. Mortimer Snerd has nothing on you ...
