The final product for the 350Z looks pretty nice, with a price reminiscent of Milltek exhaust systems. A little pricey, but if they deliver on performance and quality then they are worth the extra dollars in my opinion. Hopefully the RX8 product will follow suit in similar fashion.... any ideas when the product will be available?

Looks like Altered's site is pretty much focused on the 350Z and the infiniti FX's today, are they moving toward's adding the RX8 as a mainstream product line as well?

there's no performance delivery from an RX-8 catback other than weight loss

Yeah...my comments on performance delivery were really meant in a broad sense to include sound quality, no droning, and of course the measely 2-3hp improvement we all hope for out of an RX8 catback.

I certainly do understand the differences of a full 3" catless exhaust on a turbo car/truck vs an NA car. The old e36 M3 was no different than the RX8 with most catback systems providing only low 1-2 hp improvements for an inversely high dollar investment. The truth is that most modern NA performance cars, unless they have a really poorly designed exhaust system, won't benefit much from a catback exhaust especially considering cost. Misery loves company I guess. Bottom line is that even a new RX8 owner can figure out pretty quickly that its slim pickings when it comes to catback value for the RX8.

Having said that, I have read enough in this forum to know that the entire exhaust package with the catback and the catless midpipe or possibly an HF cat as a package will provide one area of noticeable improvement. Again its all relative...I am not suggesting you are going to get the 25-30whp gain of a nice TB exhaust and catless up-pipe on a Subie, but from what I have read a 10-15whp gain for a 3" system on an NA RX8 is not out of the question.

Sorry for not elaborating on the performance comment, but I do agree that looking for excellent performance delivery from a hp perspective out of a catback alone is pretty silly... .

I'd do it sooner but I don't get home till about 7-8 every night and I don't think the neighbors with the baby will appreciate me revving my engine.

Here you go. Keep in mind that this is not in a garage. I took a quick ride around the block. Around 1minute a car passes. That's not me. You can't see the car (it's dark) but it's my 8, you can tell by the taillights. :D

It's actually neither right now. Stuck in limbo. They are overwhelmed with all their mainstream stuff. The one on my car is still the prototype. If they don't pick it back up soon, I may try and recreate it myself...worth a shot.
