looking over the pics of various headers from the obx thread https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/obx-rx8-header-73445/?pp=15 and then comparing thm to these i d have to say these exotic speed are pretty nice.

the O2 sensor is mounted really nicely in the OEM location the welds are very nice the flange is done really well- look at this pic

i love the design vs obx and knightsport and their dyno looks legit(they even left in that bit at around 3750 where they lose power vs stock)

id still like to see what RB comes up with in the next month or so but this is looking good to me. price is up there tho....

Damn RB, takes forever for them to come out with 1 !!!!

BTW, ExoticSpeed claims that

Power Gain:

* 10.0 WHP (GS Model)
* 12.0 - 15.0 WHP(GT Model)

hmm ...

Nice. It looks like RB work.
I thought the side ports were the biggest issue with exhaust flow... Seems like a lot of money for little gain and the sound won't even change.

It will get a lot louder and deeper with a header.

Why would it if the rest of the system is the same?

The only thing I would change is most likely the ceramic coating in and out ...

headers -- high flow cat -- nice greddy, etc.. to finish it off ... maybee what 10 - 20 hp gain and it sounds pretty.

probly make more sense for a SC though....

I like the smooth formed transitions from the square exhaust ports to the circular pipes. I am also looking for the RB header before I do anything as well.

I know Speedsource has quoted 260bhp as their best number from their engine dyno with proper race intake and exhaust which should translate to around 221 whp...which also happens to be what TeamRX8 claims on his car. I suppose with the Revi, header, midpipe and REV8 we could get close to that.

Edit: Plus RB PCM reprogram or Cobb Accessport tune.

I have to agree, whomever they have doing their welds is an artist.

Hey Charles,

If you don't mind a question from someone who is clueless about exhaust design (I tried reading your thread on this, waaaaaay over my head)...Shaun noted the smooth transition to the pipe and I was wondering if instead of "funneling" the exhaust from the square opening down to the round pipe, what would be gained (if anything) by creating an exhaust pipe at that header that was square on the port side and then round where it meets with the rest of the pipe? This would allow the entire opening of the port to go directly into the open (square end) of the pipe. Is that possible? Would it make any real difference?

Thanks,

Craig

they built it the same way I was going to build mine originally, until I figured out that separate tubes, smooth port transitions, etc. make no difference on the Renesis engine ...

note that my setup was completely emissions legal, not so for the Speedsource setup i.e. no cat, no air injection, etc.

that thing does look pretty impressive. i like it a lot. the price does hurt, but it seems to be inline with most of the others though, right?
