Exotic Speed Exhaust

yeah, damn canadians!! (i'm in vancouver too)
justin seems like a pretty cool guy, offerred me the exoticspeed coilovers for 1350 installed, then i was really reluctant and was thinking of a different setup, but he said to just let him put them on and if there was anything i didn't like about them, he'd take them back. he said they're made in eastern canada by a company that has 30 years experience making racing suspension, but conveniently didn't tell me the name of the parent company

I saw Justin at his office I didn't feel right buying his exhaust mostly because I want to be CEL free. But I did haggle him down to a damn good deal then I walked out without buying it

did he tell you that you'd get a CEL with it? he had the exact same exhaust on his red rx8 and he said he had NO CEL. he assured me that it had a catalytic converter in it. i might have paid too much for mine, 799 installed (looks like it takes ten minutes, lol). do you know who does the work for that shop? he told me it was some guy who specialized in rotaries and built some rx7 racecar and that he works on a lot of the local gtr's and that they were workin on some prototype twin turbo for the 8 and want to have it done before the auto show in a few months at the bcplace

So is there a problem with the check engine light with this exhaust...
I will use the stock Cat but want it to be working perfectly...
I saw that someone on page one said i wish i had a MS...
Is that exhaust better???

on the ebay site, there are four listings for this exhaust and one of them says something about 'no CEL'. justin told me that he never had the CEL on his car when he had this exact exhaust installed, but i'm unsure whether or not it has a cat.
i think it's just a midpipe. that would explain how loud it is and the smells and if it had a high flow cat, i think it'd be more expensive

anyone that saw the first photo and thinks a cat was included or involved. did not do there homework..
if you think you can run a rx8 without a cat and not get a cel. you did not do your homework.. if you think a o2 fooler will fix your problem, you have not done your homework..
btw, really nice looking exhaust system.
beers

I know I'm going to sound like an idiot, but i didn't pay much attention to the exhaust and suspension install because i was really paranoid about the turbo install and spent all my time reading about that
I don't know if they took off the stock cat or not, i'm going to go look under my car. but the dude said, with broken english, that it had a 'catalyst' in it, and I assumed that bulge thing had a catalyic converter inside.. i'm unfamiliar with what these things look like
i'm guessing they took it off, the guy said the exhaust was full exhaust right from the downpipe
i was wondering if i could get some opinions on cutting off the tips.. they stick out a lot, they're large and purple and i don't really like the look of it, what do you think? thanks

I haven't had any issues with this system. Yes the check engine light comes on, but what you get out of it is well worth it.. It looks great and sounds even better.. Yes it is a little loud, but man is sounds good and I have heard a lot louder.. I love it.. and you could pick any system apart if you wanted too..

i just found out Justin was saying 'catless' and not 'catalyst' lmao!! omg..
anyways, yeah it sure does sound pretty mean, racecar like, but a way too loud and embarassing for my liking, unless i'm gunning it...
i'm gonna put my cat back on, but i guess it probably wont last long

charged me 799 installed but offered to take it back today and try something else if i didn't like it. said the same thing about the coilovers though but i like them... sold me the used greddy kit right out of his own car though for a good used price and it was super mint so i guess i got a good deal there...
i'm not sure i like the exhaust .. it's a bit LOUD... LOUD.. sounds like an F1 racecar..
