exhaust smellls... prob?

exhaust smellls... prob?

i have the sr motorsports high flow cat and greddy exhaust... and it kinda smells... at first i thought it was the gaskets melting and molding to shape but now it still occurs.. anyone know what causes this or does it go away? i had this setup for about a month and bought it used... could it be screws getting loose or something?

what is the smell? gas? oil? Sulfer?

I think what you smell is normal for a high flow car, as it will let more of the unburnt fuel and such through to the tail pipes.

Maby explain what your smelling, and when it smells the most? when you first start it up cold? when its hot? after pushing the car? ect.

When I first installed my midpipe and exhaust, I noticed this terrible smell. I realized that it was the burning gas and that it was normal, but it was a stark contrast to stock. I don't know if the hi-flow cat/exhaust combo would smell any different, but if nothing is rattling and it sounds normal, burning gas would be my best guess. The smell doesn't really go away either, rather you get used to it. :D

You should pass with a hi-flow cat. Fail with midpipe.

I also have the GReddy SP2 exhaust with the ultra high flow converter and it smells as well. I think that is just one of those things you have to sacrifice for performance. Also since you are letting more exhaust fumes through the tips of the pipes turn quicker than stock which is not really a problem since I clean my car once a week at least.
