Exhaust FLEX ????

So I had my RP supercat installed this morning [the jack and jack-stands just werent cutting it] and where the rear flange meets the flange for my MS cat-back it is flush on the bottom, but on the top there is a gap maybe .5-1 cm. The dude installing it told me that was so it could flex a little in case a motor mount broke or something like that. After we fired it up [and it sounded AWESOME] and raised the lift up, sure enough there were no leaks.

Is this normal ? I could have sworn the stock cat mated up perfectly ?

Doesn't seem normal to me. Did you remember to take the donut off your stock cat and put it on the RP supercat?

This is what the donut looks like, but since this one is new and on the TurboXS Midpipe... yours will be a lot dirtier.

BTW, if you forgot to put the donut on... you can probably do it yourself. Taking it off and putting it back on only involves removing 5 bolts, and one brace (4 more bolts).

Can you take a pic of where the midpipe meets the cat-back exhaust and post it.

That should help.

I just took a look at it and it seems as if the gap is not as extreme as it was. I am going to go take a pic now, brb.

well it looks like somebody took the camera but so far so good, just went for a drive and still no leaks or banging against the braces.

and it still sounds incredible [and very loud] tomorrow im going to take my powerbook for a ride and record some audio clips. to my knowledge, nobody else has the RP supercat combo w/ MS dual can

That RP Supercat is definetely very nice.
If you are sure you have no leaks, i wouldn't worry about the donut. If you have the time though, you may still want to get under the car and look.. its visible without taking the midpipe off.

When I first installed my Supercat, i forgot to put the donut on... and the exhaust leak was very obvious. You should be ok.
