ECU Upgrades

I just purchased a Magnaflow exhaust system and an ECU upgrade was my next project. Who makes the upgrades, where can they be bought, and what are your opinions on them. Thanks for the help guys (gals). Brian

are you looking for a standalone? or a piggy back? what are you looking to change or what kinda performance are you aiming for?

there are lots of options..but standalones i hear aren't really worth it until you have Fi (a reason to want lots of sontrol)..but there are lots of schools of thought on this. greddy has a piggy back (2 of them now) the emange....and emanage ultimate..there is alos the canzoomer (spelling)..which is pretty much teh same as teh emanage (from what i understand).

for more indepth answers try a search there are a lot of threads on this subject.

welcome to the cult.

A piggyback upgrade would be best for me b/c of install. Performance really isn't an issue but a few horse wouldn't hurt. With the price of gas on the rise again, fuel economy would be nice as well.

^true true..or you can just convert your car over to be a FFV (flexible fuel vehicle)..then you can run on e85.....that price stays pretty consistant per gallon

i'd go emanage or the emanage ultimate myself.

The Canzoomer unit sounds like a good idea for you. People have gotten about 12-22 whp from it on the upper rev range & because they can lean out the AFR they are able save a bit of gas. Many times you will be able to buy used units on this board. I will tell you that unless you are able to tune the unit for your car, then you should get it. It is not really a useful plug & play unit. Get a skilled mechanic to tune it for your car & you should experience the most benefit.

There is some good reading here about our ECU:

I agree with Fanman about the CZ. I have it and love the extra pumch in the power band that I have custom tuned it for. I should be going to the dyno after my 30K service this week to see what my final numbers are that I am putting down to the asphalt.
