Easy Mods?

Before I begin, I have searched the forums and NOT found the information I was looking for after reading through many, many posts.

Ok, what I am wondering is two thing:

1) Is there a noticeable difference when adding the rear strut bar?

2) I have read that there are underdrive pulleys AND lightwieght pulleys. I cannot seem to find lightwieght pulleys that are not also underdrive. Anyone know where to find lightweight pulleys for the 8?

For the record, I am not really interested in underdrive pulleys because I do not want to undercharge the system, nor lose functionality of the A/C.

Now, I know that these mods may not do much if anything for the performance of the car, but I am a tinkerer. Also, I believe that even if mods don't enhance performance, that better parts make a better car.

1) Some people would say that it's best to NOT have a rear strut bar. There are a ton of dynamics to tuning handling. There is useful info at this thread, and mention of a book that is worth buying.

2) Underdrive pulleys should be lighter weight than stock. But there ARE lightweight pulleys that aren't underdrive. Read through here if you haven't already... Might be mention of them there.

Thanks,

I didn't see the first thread you mentioned, so that was helpful. Leads me to beleive that I can expect minimal gains on a rear strut brace unless I am really pushing the car.

As for the other thread on pulleys, I have read that one (and many others). I think that I am pretty clear on pulleys, just wondering where to get lightened/lightweight pulleys, not underdrive. I have also searched high and low on the internet for them, but can only find underdrive pulleys.

I think that I will go ahead and get the rear strut bar, sounds like an easy mod, and an afordable one. Not to mention it gives me another opportunity to tinker with my 8.

I would be very interested in getting lightweight pulleys, if I could find them.

If it is any consolation, I have the SR Motorsports underdrive pulley set and the effects on the charging and a/c systems is virtually unnoticable, in my experience. As far as obvious benefits, I am not sure as I changed several things at the same time.

Thanks Charles,

I am considering just going with the underdrive pulleys, as I cannot find anything to confirm that lightweight pulleys even exist.

What is interesting, is I did just read in a thread somewhere that though one might regain some HP, that you lose torque. Not sure that I want to gain a few HP at the expense of torque.

What about a CZ1.1 upgrade? It adds 20hp and take 30 minutes to install.

If you are interested I have one available for immediate shipping. PM me if interested.

Velocity-8,

Curious. It looks like you have had your cz 1.1 for about 2 or 3 weeks. I have been reading a lot about these and have determined that it's not for me. I think that if I add an inline ecu, that I'll wait. Anyway, why are you selling it so soon? Are you one of the peeps having trouble with it?

Thanks Kain, it's always nice to have someone say the have installed it (whatever it is), and give their impressions.

It works great and there is a very noticable increase in power. I took it out and now driving without it makes the car feel sluggish. I want to sell it to buy other stuff.
