I don't know. I'm sure it sounds nice. But it just doesn't flow with the car. It reminds me of a V6 mustang actually.
It makes it seem like an entry level version of the RX-8. Like how the V6 mustang has basically the same rear as the GT but just a single pipe coming out. I realize the GT has the cut outs for the duals, but you get my point.
I'll stick with dual exhaust, but kudos to you for getting it and posting about it. If you like it then that's what matters,

Nice job on the exhaust. I've always kinda wondered why Mazda went with dual exhaust pipes on the 8. It isn't like it makes a lot of power or anything. Last time I checked, Evo's and STI's are doing just fine with a single tailpipe.

I think it is the style of the times with cars like the 8, the z, and the g35. I like the way the dual exhaust looks, it gets away from the fartcan look that alot of civics and the like are running these days. But I will not deny, I do like that screaming rotary sound, and it tends to be more pronounced out of the single exhaust.

Power!!
97 db. Yow that's loud! Any concerns over getting pulled over for being too loud? Is it loud when you're just cruising or only when you open it up. kudos for jumping in the deep[ end, now you're set for FI when the time comes.

thanks sam...
at first it was a little on the loud side at low rpm's but after a few days of driving it, it finally broke in, it actually mellowed out a little. Its a little quieter now at low rpm but still screams at high rpm..
