the RaceRoots single has 3inch piping, just something to think about, and so does the HKS Hi Power.

True, I am a little disappointed the corksport is only 2.4", however based on youtube videos (taken with a grain of salt), the HKS and RaceRoots seem to be significantly louder.

I want the weight savings and price of the single exit exhaust, but the sound of the mazdaspeed/racing beat.

The corksport dual exit seems to have a similar tone to those two, and the single exit is close to that as well, only a bit louder.

Any suggestions?

Will you consider a passenger side outlet?

I don't think you are going to get a mazdaspeed/racing beat sound of of a single exit exhaust. Singles tend to be louder. I have the raceroots and i love it though.

You guys are NA and talking about piping size. A 3" is useless on a NA RX-8. 2.4" will be just fine.

I'm glad you love your rip off exhaust. Buying rip offs is what makes it tough on companies like this to release quality new parts for the industry. That's partially why HKS USA is gone. Sometimes cheaper is better, not always. But straight up stealing someone elses design is not cool.

Well, the Mazdaspeed dual is a ripoff of the Corksport. I had mine at least a year before MS had there's.

I'm glad you mentioned this because I always noticed how the HKS single was advertised for both turbo and NA applications...couldn't find a definitive answer whether 3" piping was actually overkill for an NA rx8.

Not that there's much power to be had either way, it'll just be nice if the Corksport single doesn't attract as much "unwanted" attention.

Really, that's pretty sad because on top of that it is prone to rust. If an exhaust can rust and crack at the welds in Texas that is pretty bad. Shinkamami's was rusted and cracked after 20k or so.

I had the HKS when I was NA. It's fine but having a 3" over a 2.4" will do nothing for power if you are NA. I am unsure if a smaller diameter pipe would make it less loud. Rotarygod has an epic post on exhaust flow that is pretty good and there are some other great reads on the topic as well.

And CS will agree with you

I think he is refering to MS.
My CS isn't the bright and shiny exhaust that it was 6 yrs ago. The cans have discolored and are in a little rough shape, but that can be expected over time. The tips look fine. It's been on the car for about 70k miles.

It is not something we are currently considering. It would be a pretty big adjustment to the design to make.

Yeah I was referring to the Mazdaspeed being rusted, I have heard nothing but good things about CS. No exhaust should rust in Texas unless you live on the coast.

Do you have a month in mind that you are shooting for? What about the price, is it still estimated between $350-400?

Also, it would be great if you could get some sound measurements between the single and dual exhaust options. This would sway my purchase choice due to the noise restrictions at my autox locations.

Thanks, I appreciate the work you guys are putting forth!

stainless does rust, every time you drive through rain etc rust from other carbon steel components gets in the mix and will attach itself to stainless, which with heat will discolor and patina, the higher the temperature the more it will stain and darken. Not all stainless is equal either. The higher the nickel content the better the resistance, but also the higher the price. When you get low cost stainless from China you pretty much are getting whatever scrap dgsh-t they have melted together.

Is 304 Stainless Steel considered good quality for an exhaust? I believe that what their dual muffler exhaust is made from. No idea what they use for the single exhaust though.

Yes. Our dual exit exhaust is also constructed from T304 Stainless. Single exit exhaust will be constructed from the same.
