Well i ordered my k-n typhoon intake so now i want to get exhaust im leaning towards the corksport. Anyone have personal opinions on it sound clips or anything? Was going to go borla but its way pricey for me... corksport i can get for 650 shipped.

After 4 yrs of use, mine doesn't look that pretty anymore. Installed it in Aug 05. I got it because it is lighter than stock. I didn't weigh it, but it felt lighter on installation. Corksport list it's weight. I don't remember what that is at the moment.
I'm over 50 and I don't find it objectionable. Under light load it sounds fine. Under heavy load (WOT) it gets loud. The tips cause the plastic shrouds to melt. They need to be cut (opened up) for clearance.

from the photos above they have changed the mufflers, they used to be round.

as to sound. with a midepipe and no cat it was to loud at 74 mph. but i am old..

i had one of the first ones.. so who knows with the new mufflers. well built. and it was 15lbs lighter than stock..

Yes this is the new style cans. Not sure exactly when they came out but I bought the exhaust from Corksport Feb. 2008. The exhaust sounds the same between the two mufflers. I have the round cans now due to an exhaust leak with the first exhaust. I took it to Corksport and this is what they had on hand so they swapped it out no questions asked. Awesome customer service

 

The install is easy. It will take you 1-2 hours. The three gotchas are as follows:

1. Removing the exhaust from the rubber hangers
2. Connecting the exhaust to the two spring loaded bolts
3. Removing and modifying the exhaust shrouds.

#1 spray some form of penetrating lubricant on the rubber hangers. Also spray the two spring loaded bolts because they can be difficult to remove. Let it soak in 10-15 minutes.

#2 I used two vice grips on the flanges to get the springs to compress enough to get the bolts started.

3# Be careful removing the shrouds and follow the instructions provided by Corksport. I used a Dremel to make the modification.


Obviously this is no DIY but there a few already written in the DIY section of the board. Searching exhaust in that section should bring them up

 

^ That's virtually the same way I did it down to the vice grips. Because this exhaust is lighter, only 2 of the rubber hangers are used. I just folded up and out of the way the 2 that are unused. The above picture shows a place to connect the grounding strap. My older version, doesn't have this option. I let it hang loose.
I got mine used. The previous owner had it on for one day and his wife didn't like it. I didn't get instructions on how to install. The process is obvious.
I also got my H&R springs from Corksport. Great people to do business with.

 

Yes, and if you search for MM's DIY on the Mazdaspeed - it will be very similar. Exhausts are easy - I am not a mechanic and I did it no problem! Good luck.
