I like this exhaust the most out of all I've seen so far. Gets rid of that huge can and maintains the dual tip.

It's fantastic! Now all of us RX8 owners can achieve true Honda Civic performance and sound with this dual fart-can resonator set-up!

I dont think i could have 400+ hp in my wrx without my 3'' straight through exhaust. So what if it farts, it will smoke 95% of cars on the street. The point is if it flows well it makes more power. You stick to your honking huge resonator barrel weighing down your back end.

So you are saying that your car would make MUCH LESS hp if the exhaust did not fart? That is a ridiculous statement. That exhaust will probably gain you 10hp = .1sec off your et at the risk of making a $30,000 car sound like a civic. All I'm saying is that there are other exhausts available that will give you power gains and weight savings ( ie borla or especially the titanium magnaflow) with better sound then throwing a couple fart can resonators at the end of your exhaust. IF, your car makes 400+hp then I guess you can sound however you want and people still have to respect it. .....What kind of et's are you running in the REX? Maybe I've seen you at GLD in my "other" car.

What I meant was usually if you run a straight through pipe it sounds like a fart, especially witha 4-cylinder turbo, maybe not with a v-8 but thats not my case. If i was running a cat, or had some kind of restrictive dual pipe like the stock muffler, it has been dyno proven to restrict a lot of hp, something like 20whp. When running at best my car runs a 12.6. Hopefully with my custom turbo that should be coming any week (gt3037 with enlarged compressor housing and upgraded dual ball bearing center section) I should be in the 11's. What's your other car? I'm around great lakes a couple times each season. My car is blue, and now has black wheels. I'm in boston right now, but i will be around all summer.

hang on, hang on everyone. i'm glad to see that someone finally came up with this system (which if i were an RX-8 owner, i'd just have built for myself). it's lighter, and will save you from having a warm trunk (all that insulating air is good).

everyone seems concerned that a straight-through resonator will make the RX-8 fart: this is not necessarily true.
farts are created with small, weak exhaust pulses (from small pistoned motors), already muffled through the catalyst, and have their volume unreduced by a POS coffee can, and their frequency pushed way down into the low end of the spectrum with a 4.5" tip.

if anyone has ever heard a true straight-pipe exhaust, even on a 1.6L all-motor race engine, you'd know that it sounds nothing like a 1989 beat-to-**** CRX with a ground-scraping coffee can on the back. my favourite sound (as is with a great many true Rotorhead) is the lope of a bridgeported/p-ported rotary race engine... *brap* *brap* *brap* . with the RX-8 on the setup pictured above, the sound coming out the back will be influenced heavily by the consruction and materials used in the resonators, as well as the size of the tip on the loud end.

That's a good point iI made a hasty generalization. In fact every cat back i have heard so far on the 8 sounds pretty good. Usually with those large resonator cans and a large diameter tip exhausts do make a farting noise. True straight pipes on race prepped engines do not. I agree with you wakeech

You make good points but I guess I just need to hear it. It is just that at first glance it looks like a stock exhaust with a couple resonators that every kid throws on their 90' escort......REX: Nice times, my other car WAS an '01 Z28. I had a decent amount of mods and I was running 11.8 @119 on spray and 12.4@112 N/A. Thats with an A4 and 2.73 gears.:D Unfortunately I trashed the tranny plus it was getting too many sqeaks and rattles so I decided it was time t o start over with something a little higher quality and a little more challanging so I traded it in for the 8. It was Midnight Blue with polished 5 spoke 18's.

Z28 awesome car man. Excellent times as well. Hopefully we will see the 8 on the track pulling some sweet times in the near future as well.

My friend owns a WRX and he bought an exhaust thats a straight pipe back and took out all his cats and it sounds mean as hell like a V8 truck. I think his is 3 inch also.

I like this exhaust alot and I'm thinking about it. I emailed Corksport and asked a few questions:

I have some questions about the RX8 exhaust: Did you Dyno it and if so do you have a graph? What kind of mufflers are you using? Do you know the Decibel levels? What is the diameter of the piping and tips. It looks great guys and the video is awesome.

Thanks

Hello,

I can answer few of your questions off the top of my head. Due to the wheel speed sensors we have not been able to dyno the car yet with the exhaust. We have dyno'd it without. Hopefully, we'll get to that soon!

I drove the car around recently with a dB meter. Inside the car, the loudest I observed was aroud 90 dB under hard accelleration up a hill.
I'm very happy with the sound level from that exhaust. I think 95% of the people who buy it will think it is just perfect of maybe a little to quite.

The mufflers are a stainless steel packed straight through muffler. For this reason, power gains should be similar to other straight through systems on the market.

The piping is about 2.5" od and the tips are about 3.5" od
Thanks for the compliments on the video.

Thanks,
Rich
