So even with my very limited rx8 experience I can tell the stock intake functions as a CAI. It does everything that one is supposed to do, like raising the intake of the ground, being away from the engine bay, etc.

To my understanding, it even has very very limited functionality as a ram intake. Take this with a grain of salt, but the VFAD seems to be positioned well enough that a small amount of air is forced in once it opens. Though this functionality is compromised by the small opening of the VFAD, and the fact that the static air duct isn't completely shut off once it opens. Either way, it's more air going through.

Speaking of CAI, anybody know the measurements for the AEM CAI filter? I couldn't find them and wanted to order the Injen Hydroshield for it.
