Let me tell you a bit about O.D. and his friends from GA. I was invited to attend a NASA HPDE event by O.D. and the Gang. Not only was I treated with the utmost in Southern hospitality, O.D. covered my motel room rate for me and they all acted as if I was somebody special. That came at a time in my life when I really needed it, too. I had two days of the most fun, best cameraderie, and no illegal activity(except for the nitrous video). As soon as I am able to head back down to see O.D., Nabil, legocken, Pam, silverEight, rxeighter, Razz(?), Marietta8, and whomever else I have left out, I will be down there in a heartbeat. A truly classy group of people.

In many ways, O.D. and I are brothers(with he being the well-older of the two of us). We both came to the RX-8 with a history of musclecars in our pasts.

You forgot to mention that I still have all of my own teeth!Lol. Yea we are a pretty good bunch of guys down here. Proud to be just part of the group. CHarles showed us a lot.
I'm blessed, good friends, good times and a hell of a car! (there is a lot more stuff also but i wont go into that now.)
Now gotta go and hang a dang ceiling fan in the living room. Then look at my idle issue, then get out the old credit card and pull up R.B.
Charles and friends keep on keeping on guys--a day at the time.

O.D., I am going to fix that problem I have had with my N flash and the nitrous and visit you asap for that 12-second run I promised. Hell, I may even be quicker than that by the time I make it back. Once I resolve this matter I will set about installing the E-Man to prep for higher levels of nitrous shots. That's another thread, though.

Charles...you will probably like the Gold E-manage...it allows Timing adjustments based on Throttle position( instead of MAF Voltage). I just had mine updated by CZ ( Maurice) and it works great. Just have to figure out the best results for the map I have made............

I don't want to step on O.D.'s toes here (even though I know he won't mind it's still not polite) but I don't need the added flexibility of the Gold's ability to modify the ignition curve based on throttle position because there is only one throttle position available when the nitrous is to be used. With that in mind, what I plan on doing is setting up a trigger to tell the "boost" circuit on the blue E-Manage to reduce the amount of ignition advance by a predetermined amount. This will allow me to discover how much reduction I need to accomodate, say a 100 shot, and program the E-Man to reduce the ignition lead by that much. Right now, no ignition mods are necessary with a mere 55 shot but I may need as much as 4-6 degrees of reduction to get the 100 shot to work. I may also need 6-8 degrees to get something like a 125 h.p. shot to work. Whatever it will turn out to be, I don't know for sure right now, but we'll find out if all goes well. This way, the E-Man has no other use and is transparent in all driving situations EXCEPT when the nitrous is actually spraying. With the nitrous turned off or less than WOT the E-Man will do nothing.

How about them suspensions springs, eh?

You'll also need a $15 Spring Compressor

After you install the springs, get a "performance alignment" with you in the car. You'll appreciate the sharper turn-in and better handling on Track Days.
You know, with all the suspension installs I've done on various cars, people have always said I'd need a spring compressor but I haven't had to do it once. I've done all of my installs in my garage with simple hand tools and air tools and never had a problem.

No way to compress the spring on the RX-8 = Shrapnel Bomb in the making.

And that's all I got to say about that.

OD, it's your thread so I'll gladly follow your lead but you know how some people can be like Seinfeld's Soup **** and demand that we stay on topic. I'll follow the conversation wherever it goes.

well I went back and tried it both your ways, IMO it's much easier to drop the rearward lower control arm on the rear suspension as I previously described it

Ya know, Team, now that I have been thinking back on how I did my springs I can't recall removing the rear lower link but I also cannot remember NOT removing it. I may be a bit off on this matter. Either way, it only takes a moment to remove it, so what the Hell(?).
