cat removal questions. NEED HELP!

So i want to remove the catalytic converter and i wouldnt have any problem doing because where i live we dont have emissions tests but i lifted the car and noticed the O2 sensor is IN the cat!? by removing it there would be no place for it to go. should i try to move it closer to the engine by the first O2 sensor or should i bypass it with a simulator? and if i simulate it or bypass it what would be involved in doing that? I just dont want a CEL for fear of a real problem going unnoticed. All i want to do is get more power and loud exhaust without buying the whole exhaust. I know i'm cheap! gutting the cat would be easy but again the sensor would cause the light to go on. What should i do!?

You can gut it, and leave the sensor in place, the CEL will light forever, but serious problems usually have a flashing CEL.

Or, buy a 'test pipe' and leave the sensor out, still get the CEL, but reversible when you sell the car, or need warranty work. (Cat is $2000+ if the dealer has to put one in at trade-in time....)

i'm trying to get a CEL at all. i just read a post about using spark plug non-foulers and it seems to be 50/50 about working i'm still deciding on spening 125on a cat-less midpipe so that the cat is still good for selling or trade in or if i should gut it and take the risk of trying the non-fouler. i dont want to ruin a cat if the light is gunna stay on causing me to buy a new one. i dont have 2 grand burning a whole in my pocket and if i did i would but a whole exhaust system

You won't likely get a CEL...but most tend to burn out if you drive them really hard

The anti fouler trick is for Hondas, won't do dick for your car.

The test pipe route is cheap insurance, buy it, keep it or if you don't like or want a full system, there is always someone looking to buy used.

I still have my like-new cat in the corner of the garage if I need it.

^Well if you check the measures of the flanges you can easily see if they match.

About the CEL question, I am one year without catalytic converter, with AP midpipe and with no spark plug trick and I never got a CEL until now.
