Borla Exhaust Installed -- Rattle at Idle
Borla Exhaust Installed -- Rattle at Idle
Anyone else with a Borla Catback getting an exhaust rattle at idle? (Also resonates at 3500 rpm)
I checked it out and the muffler is hitting the heat shield on the driver's side, behind the muffler. I tried loosening the slip joint to rotate the muffler down and got a little clearance, but the rattle is back. I also noticed the driver's side tip sticks out about 1.5" farther than the passenger side tip. The muffler is only hitting on the driver's side (appears that it is sitting in there crooked).
I assume it is a simple adjustment, as I doubt Borla is designing them to hit like that, but anyone else have any issue?

nevermind, I found the DIY thread and guess this is normal.
Just my 2cents though, I bet it has something to do with the ability to adjust the right side tip, since it has the right side hangers. If you move that tip up and down, it should shift the way the muffler rests. I will investigate........

I really think the fitment issue has to do with the pass. side exhaust being able to be adjusted. If that is not perfectly lined up, I think the muffler shifts because of the weight distribution on the hangers.
But like you said, the tone is nice and it seems bulletproof.

I did a few of them, and every one of them need to adjust befor everything could be tighten, just need the extra time to fine tune it. If you are going to use a test pipe this exhaust will last longer then other exhaust system.
