Date on site changed to March 1. Still it would be interesting to know the reason

I'm sure it's just a supply chain thing. He's waiting on flanges or resonators or his welder to finish his vacation or something.

Hey guys,

I've recently installed a BHR midpipe and I'm getting a rattle from underneath the car at idle:

I've communicated through email with Charles, and he is telling me that it is from the engine and not the midpipe.

Reading through the thread I've seen several people had a very similar sound, with at least one person getting it fixed by BHR.

Anyone else fixed this problem? I'm pretty sure it was installed correctly with the hardware provided by BHR. I'm not opposed to re-doing it, but I don't want to waste my time if this is either the engine or a flaw in the midpipe.

^ That's normal. Any catless midpipe will change the frequencies you hear. The cat helps dampen the exhaust noise to a great degree. Also, BHR's resonator is different than Mazda's, which means it sounds different. What you are hearing there is more of how a rotary engine actually sounds.

I didn't hear it in your video, but it is somewhat common for the rear hangar to rub the powerplant frame, which can cause a rattle. Your might be doing that and might need some adjustment.

I can't hear anything too bad. As long as you don't smell exhaust in the cabin(which usually means you didn't line up the exhaust manifold/header and the mid-pipe up properly), it should be fine.

And like Steve said, sometimes the flange does rub against the frame a little bit. You could have a shop heat it up and bend it for you so it doesn't rub.

Enjoy the mid-pipe, BTW. It filters out all the annoying frequencies and leaves you a great sound. My friends said some of the other 8s in the area doesn't sound nearly as good. It's also pretty quiet if you are just cruising along. You only have the volume when you want it.
