Just to be clear of any misunderstanding, my thread is in no way intended to be a 'save money, use this' thread and makes no recommendation to use the product i used as a replacement for a vendors products. :)

Useful to know, though it sounds more along the lines of a low defect rate as opposed to a high environmental-related incompatibility.

Be careful in your opinions, you might be considered a "famboi", "sack-swinger", or one who has consumed the BHR "Kool-Aid". The latter euphemism I always found strange, since nobody has died in their support of BHR or my products. LOL

If you were ever to release a product with the poor quality level that other vendors have accepted or were to suddenly not support your customers, I'd be hammering you just as hard as everyone else would be. I also praise any other vendor just as highly if they held their products and customer support to the level that you do. It's a sad note that we only have two vendors worthy of that praise, and not more.

Some people have high standards, and that will always draw the ire of people that can't reach or maintain high standards of their own.

I've posted on the forum that my own BHR customer service experience has been excellent :)

I know a few people who didn't think they were so lucky, yet I'm such a BHR basher/hater that I never bothered to mention it before or even why or how my own issue-resolved customer experience proved to be excellent :dunno:

the main issue at hand is that there can't even be a discussion or disagreement without it being turned into the usual us vs him/them scenario. This is the open forum area, yet the BHR sponsored vendor area is unpopulated.

Black Halo Racing - RX8Club.com

I can assure you that not only have I never told any person ever not to buy from BHR, a few people went there on my recommendation as well as a few others who went somewhere else against my recommendation. I certainly never claimed the owner is Jim Jones reincarnated  Nice bob & weave move though. :)

People have the right to spend their money on their car as they see fit regardless of who the vendor is. The idea that there are only two reputable vendors here is just the usual exaggerated smoke & mirrors BS, particularly since there are more than two sponsored vendors on this forum. Maybe the one's who aren't in that exclusive category as dictated by a forum moderator are wasting their time here and should consider going somewhere else? :squint:

I think the bickering can end when people learn to humble themselves and respect each other. That means that it probably will never end, but at least it can lessen.

Thanks for all the entertainment. After many hours of looking for the best midpipe I will be ordering a BHR midpipe or resonator in the near future.

RichieDC 06-20-2014 08:20 PM

I'd give anything to be able to get one of these through some European counterpart.

With current custom rules and delivery charges it'd cost me over $700 for a bhr midpipe :(

TeamRX8 06-20-2014 09:18 PM

or you too :)

Or me too ;)

I just installed my BHR catted midpipe last night to replace the gutted cat that the previous owner left behind. I took it for a few short test runs and so far, this car is running better than ever. Well done, BHR!

I love mine. GF says it is too loud but it is NOT coming off.

Hey guys,

I definitely have a leak coming from the donut gasket that attaches the mid pipe to the catback. I had my mid pipe installed by the guy who rebuilt my engine so I'm not positive on if he used the OEM gasket or not. One ofther thing to note is that the passenger side bolt seems stripped because it won't torque up like the drivers side bolt. Hopefully the attached pictures can give you an idea if it is installed correctly or not and what I have to do to fix it.

paimon.soror 08-07-2014 02:52 PM

Based on those images, it doesn't look like an OEM style donut gasket was used, which could be causing your leak

westgman 08-11-2014 02:12 PM

Ahhh damn, do you happen to know the part number of those? The guy who installed mine threw em out.

Im just curious why can't you just bolt the pipes together without a spring? I did this with my mid pipe and haven't have any issues, has it anything to do with the donut gasket getting compressed overtime and then without a spring you will get a leak for loose bolts?

RIWWP 08-15-2014 05:07 PM

The springs give the entire exhaust setup some flex to better handle thermal cycling and vehicle vibrations. Bolting it straight is acceptable, though over time the metal will be more prone to cracking. Not critical either way as long as you are aware of the difference.

I had a leak there when I installed my RB midpipe. The gasket was not centered.

I loosened the nuts (on the springs) a bit, and used a screwdriver to poke the gasket upwards, and re-tightened.

It's perfectly sealed now.

BHR vs Racing beat midpipe?

I'm not sure which one to get. I hear great thing about both of them so that's why I'm torn between the two. Also I'm wondering if I should go with or without a cat. I'm not to worried about smog laws here in Kentucky , I'm just trying to see what's the best upgrade for my Rx8 for the best price.

van 08-30-2014 02:05 PM

^ I just placed in an order for a BHR without cat.

It's been mentioned many times, but the front res. on the RB dual res. pipe will blow out its internal packing eventually, and will sound louder when it happens. The BHR single res. pipe should last a lifetime, and the sound will remain unchanged.
