krumz provided the pic below ur post. the top pic is the actual unit i've received for the 6spd manual. the pic below may be for the market that uses a 5spd.

as far as comparison?

well... seeing the part i switched out for, i think this is more of a "peace of mind" upgrade mod.

perhaps beatrush may be better, provide better shift, yadda yadda yadda...
you really can't go wrong going either route. either collar will NEVER break and should last as long as you own that trans.

it seems like a real solid piece to me. can't tell you which is better between beatrush/r-magic, but compared between stock? hands down, the peace of mind is well worth the $30-40 bux either brand.

Thread bump

Just installed the Beatrush shifter collar the other night, and it feels really really nice. Very solid shifts compared to the plastic piece, and little to no movement in the shifter.

I had a problem with it settling down in the (fork?) for the shifter though. Eventually it fell into place, but when I got everything bolted back up i'd row through the gears (note this is parked, engine off) and it would have trouble getting into random gears, but mostly 5th and 6th. If you push down on the shift **** as if you were going into reverse it seemed to push the bushing back down and you could shift through all gears.

I've been driving for about 100 miles now and have only had it not engage a gear once, and that was from a stop. I think part of the issue is it could use some extra lube/oil during the install to help it move smoothely, but will eventually use the lube previously on the shifter eventually. Havn't had a problem in the last 80-90 miles.

I give this product, a thumbs up.

Same here about the gear engagement, just installed mine 20 minutes ago. Because the OEM plastic bushing/collar is attached to the actual shifter ball it stays with the shifter wherever it moves. The Beatrush shift collar is a taller metal piece that just slides down into where the plastic one went and the shifter ball slides into it. It does not attach to the shifter ball.

I found that if you rapidly push down on the shifter (like pushing down on it to go into reverse) then try to go into first the collar will raise up just enough to prevent it from going into first. BUT if you are driving it normally, even racing it this doesn't happen. Only when you are trying to get it to un-seat does it prevent gear engagement. All in all like others have said you're buying peace of mind that a metal part is less likely to break than a plastic one. I noticed no difference while driving, if I had someone else install it I would have had to take their word it was changed. I paid $35 for mine, I'm on the fence about it but if I had had one before I probably would have passed on buying another as the OE plastic one works just as good. By the way getting the OE plastic bushing/collar off was a PITA.

Bump

I know this is a year old thread buuuutttt I have a question.

Have any of you guys had trouble taking it out after a few hundred (or in my case thousands) of miles? No matter what I do/tool(s) I use it simply won't budge.

At first I thought maybe it had to do with it being metal and the heating and cooling/expanding and contracting from use preventing it from getting out. No matter how hot or cold it doesn't budge.

Anyone have this issue?

step by step

A) remove shifter
B) turn car upsidedown
C) shake car

Seriously, you get one of those grabbers that have a flex shaft and a plunger.
they have a grabbing claw thar expands when you depress the plunger.
put it down in the bushing and it should expand enough to hold it while you pull it out.

Good thing I just bought some pre and post workout supplements. I should be able to do this in no time! haha

hmm...forgot those even exist. I guess I'll be picking one up soon! Thanks!
