A friend of mine told me an idea he did in one of his old cars he used for drag racing: He opened the cat, removed everything from the inside, and made a custom tube completely free flowing. So basically it was a mipipe under the cover of the original cat. So if a cop tries to do his job, the excuse is 'look, its there, probably malfunctioning, I'll fix it straight away!'
Is this possible?

That is how I have my Miata. I ran a 2.75" tube through the hollowed-out CAT body. Looks stock.

Well, I got the pipe in and holy sh*t is it loud! I will be doing something about this soon. I have the GReddy exhaust and I maybe adding another inline muffler as well. It's just too loud

I cant believe its so loud, but more importantly, can u feel a diference in acceleration? How much faster does it feel compared to stock?

I can believe it. When I got my SR Motorsports hi-flow cat (w/ resonator) I thought it made my RB exhaust much louder, the midpipe is probably 2X to 3X that. If you have an aftermarket exhaust it amplifies the sound that much more.

correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought not having O2 sensor therefore, turning on Cell would have an adverse effect on the performance. The reason being is because the ECU would have to guess the amount of air coming into the engine therefore it no longer supplies the right amount of fuel?
