B&B Exhaust

All right, folks:

This is my first post and let me say how glad I am to be a new part of this community. As a preface to my posting, I have researched at least three whole work days away in trying to 'search function' the answers to my questions, and am now only posting because I feel I have an at least partially unadressed issue worthy of some discussion, and I'd love to hear some opinions and anecdotes.

Having put an Axial Flow Short Throw and a Mazdaspeed Intake in my '05 Manual RX8, I was looking at exhaust. I read and re-read the Exhaust Summary thread, and noticed that there wasn't much discussion on the B&B Exhaust specifically. In fact, I was rather confused because the B&B is listed BOTH in 'non-street legal, header-back' systems AND the 'legal, cat-back systems', both with the same HP gains, 19hp. So other than some corrections on horsepower gains, early in the thread, I didn't see any explanation on whether this was a header-back or cat-back system, and, either way, if anyone had used this exhaust... so I'd love to hear some feedback. Is it legal? Warranty-voiding? Good? How's the sound? I know how popular the Borla is here in this community, but the B&B's extra HP gains are SO appealing... so what's the dealio?

Again, everyone, my most solemn and humble gratitude for being here, and for any comments. You guys rock.

Tim

Loud.

All horsepower claims on a simple catback exhaust are negligible on this car.. the most HP you can free up in the exhaust system is a cat delete, e.g. midpipe.

well with a cat delete, and catback. That number might not be completely bogus. Id say 10-15 whp would be believable if theres a cat delete.

With just the catback, I dont believe 18 whp for a minute.

midpipe sold seperate. around $315 i believe. it should be around $800 for the catback

i have the B&B catback. it's a good exhaust, not too loud. doesnt attract a lot of cop attention either. dont expect near advertised hp gains, i think i maybe saw 5-7 hp with the exhaust, thats pretty typical for all exhausts though.

i'll probably be selling mine for the agency power in december and go full 3" catless

dyno'd roughly 10 hp higher after installing an AEM CAI and the B&B catback exhaust, and i dont think the intake gave me that much.
