Anyone tried to modify the stock exhaust?

I'm thinking about giving it a try and wondering if anyone else has done it.

There is a thread on here somewhere describing the removal of some, or all, of the factory packing if sound is what you're after.

I was thinking of gutting one out and perhaps using large pipes and tips.
