Anybody with the HKS intake system

Trying to get user feedback....happy,not happy, minor diffrence/major diffrence in power, etc.

AEM looks cool sounds cool, but not feeling the loacation, scared and worried of our FL downpours and the intake sucking up water and hydro locking the Renisis.

RB , seems like the obvious choice at this point, but without the ram intake feature.

K&N typhoon seems cool, a few users said its very loud and offers a ruff idle.

I know that Intakes aren't really mods that offer huge power gains,i am just looking for a intake that sounds agressive , offers good engine response, rev response, slight increase in mpg and some power to boot anywhere from 3-6HP range.

I know HKS has been in the industry for along time and has alot of history for modding japanse sports cars to outrageous limits.

You are kidding right? You can't have it all..
K&N: too loud.. and power decrease
RB: Nice setup, mpg increase but not "agressive" enough
AEM: Can't comment on this
HKS: I have it... do a search... agressive enough, nice kick in the pants after 5.5K RPM, good engine response, mpg increase? yeah right....

As I told you in anotehr thread... Get the intake and a exhaust. You'll be pleased.

At two weeks now with my intake and I love it. Definately sounds agressive and does give you that added kick around 5.5k. As for gas mileage, I'm not sure b/c once you put in you'll find yourself pushing the car more than ever and turning the volume down on the radio to hear the deep grrr..I recommend it, but I would look around before going to a vendor and paying 400+. I was lucky to grab mine from Ebay for $185 shipped..

Yeah i heard many, not just on a rotary.

Give me some slack.....i am new to this rotary game. Had the Injen set up on my TTZ w/ K&N filters as the breathers. Swapped them for the Apexi power filter, then went to the JIM Wolf dual Pop chargers. On the Max had the Injen set up with a HKS filter , then went to a K&N filter, the HKS wasn't filtrating really well for some reason. So yeah i had my fair shares of intakes and intake setups.

Your talking to a guy who had a Stage III TTZ, to you thats about 365WHP. So trust me i have experience , but none with the rotary......

Just inquiring.......and trying to make the best purchase decion for the money, like you as a enthusiast, i am not trying to pay top dollar for gimmicks. I read alot on this forum about diffrent setups, but no-one has posted there expresions on the HKS intake. Its always been about the RB, AEM,etc....just trying to test the waters.

Exactly....we all know for N/A cars no intake will net 10HP. So i look pass the BS hype in power gains when it comes to N/A figures from manufactures, on FI cars adding a intake(s) will net those power gains if not more and is a totally diffrent story.

Like you guys i want to buy into stuff that works. Modding a car is like putting a puzzle together, every little piece will get you to the final result of a picture. In our case , that picture can be small or big , depending on what pieces you use.And that picture being performance...

Had the HKS Suction for a while now, never had any problems at all with starting, idling, water, nothing like that. If you have to drive through 4 feet of water your an idiot, good luck doing that with any car other than suv's. I drove my 8 with the suction kit installed through rain and snow going from las vegas to l.a. 10 hours of straight driving and didn't get one drop of water in the air box. As far as gains go, it's not going to give you crazy *** hp figures (this has been discussed more times than the number of our national deficit). Its a great product, and quality is top notch. There are other great intake kits on the market right now that will give you the same hp #'s typically 2-3 but it really comes down to preference. I prefer going with japanese products, but thats just me.
