Installed it about a week ago, and left the stock muffler on, and now the car has a strange odor when i let it run, doesn't smell like gas or oil, anyone have an idea?!

 

well you deleted your cat with the midpipe and the cat sucks up most of the odors.

i still have the oem cat on my rx8, but on my friends rx8.... it doesnt smell like "pull up to the gas station gas", its more like rotary burnt fuel gross global warming-ness. Unless you are a full on rotard, it shouldnt smell lovely.

is the smell entering the cabin with the windows up?
is the smell entering the cabin with the windows down?
are you smelling it behind your car?

typically.. if you drive behind another rx8 or rotary for that matter with youre windows down you will smell the same thing. its a very pungent smell.

nothing to be worried about, unless you want to stop global warming, and in that case you should sell the car.

 

Everyone knows global warming is caused by dinosaur farts, not our cars..

 

I can only smell it when I'm outside of the car.

 

oh and Eric, I remember you said you had an RR single exhaust, if I may ask, do you remember how long it took for you to receive it?

a while, it was weird when i ordered it too, it was before a holiday and a weekend was thrown in there or something weird.

took about 2 weeks. if you havnt gotten a tracking # in like a week then send a pm to brice sayin whats up. After my shipping issue was dealt with i had the exhaust in 3 days, shipping from FL to NJ.

when i got my exhaust from brice the ups guys dropped it and i had to get it bent back so the tip would go on. The tip had a smudge from a fingerprint in the Ti finish and now im having issues with the packing in the exhaust rattling at 1200-2450rpm. Alot of problems.


basically you are fine, you are smelling fuel that is being dumped out the exhaust.

 

yeah, he keeps sending my emails, saying that it should be arrive soon, but i ordered it about a week in a half ago, and he said it just left the facility on Friday. I'm probably going to use that exhaust for a little until the Corksport Single comes out, which is in about a week or two.

and do you have a cat-delete pipe as well?

I have a ap exhaust with a high flow cat now but i think when i had the ap midpip delete it smells wen the exhaust was new, but just like normal new pipes smell because of the oils n stuff they use to make. no worries, is that what it smells like maybe?
