aftermarket exhaust Q's

i read all the recent exhaust threads and i am on the fence. i keep finding dual mufflers and outlets. but i cant find any single muffle and single exit exhaust kits. what is the advantage of dual mufflers compared to single? why do all these performance exhausts split at the end? where can i find a single exit system?

They split to keep the rear looking balanced. I think Racing Beat was working on a single exit exhaust, and I'm sure there are some out of Japan (but then you're paying Japan prices, which are a bit steep). Custom would probably be your best, and cheapest.

eh, ive seen a single exit on the JIC rx8 and i went there and did some lookin around and they only offer dual muffler setups. i dont want a dual muffler especially if there is no performance gain over single exit. there has to be more companies with singles. i guess ill keep looking. thanks bro

I think they are making it for turbo applications. Nothing really bad about dual canisters besides weight. I was contemplating getting a single exit titanium n1 exhaust. But still on the fence about the looks.

The only people that can really comment on it's effect is RB. On the S2000 besides the obvious advantage of looks & weight it actually does give more hp than the dual exhausts. More of a straight through design, no bends.

interesting point. But for a torque less 8, back pressure is needed to an extent. So a straight through design wouldn't probably work that great. I'm just worried about how it will look.

if i can pay the same amount (or even a little more) for a single exit, id prefer that. im about making peak power, even if it costs a little more. ive seen them on FD's and i really liked them. i hope there is a single somewhere in the works

I could be wrong but I think JIC makes a single exit exhaust.... also HKS is coming out with one soon. I'll try and check on pricing info on monday...

zoom zoom....

yeah i understand the back pressure problem, but i plan on turbocharging it and turbo's are natural backpressure creators so i can afford the single exit.

jon....
yeah i seen that single exit on the JIC and i liked it, i hope its coming soon. and id like to see the hks one as well.

keep me updated
thanks

build your own like I dd, the whole thing including the cat-back pipe is only about 9 - 10 lb:

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...3&postcount=47

a couple of guys built a 1 pipe system using a Borla oval muffler, should find them with a Search

I'm considering building a few and offering them for sale ... as simple as it is it's not all that inexpensive, all stainless, quality built muffler that is repackable, uses the OE cat-back pipe that seals to the cat outlet properly and is included, you would just bolt it on
