Yea I still have the stock cat on and the muffler is a straight through design. Tomorrow I'm going to get a video clip and pictures taking after work.

Whats the difference in design compared to a resonator (I thinking of internal design)?

^ it doesn't bother me a whole lot. I really wanted to try one of these mufflers on the rx8 its pretty nice I like it. But I'm going to get a RB cat back over the winter though. I do love the dual..

It sounded just like mine but mine was with 2x 3030 dual setup. It was loud as hell even with a turbo + high flow cat + magnaflow 4" muffler, so i took these off and installed a burns stainless muffler and 2 borla xr1. It's so much livable now.

That's my biggest concern over this system. I just don't see how it could muffle all that well. I can see how it would do a little though. I know they claim that jet engines use this type of technology to help quiet them but that's a little bit deceiving. A jet engine, specifically an airliner jet engine, is a high bypass design. This means that much of the thrust (up to 80%) can come from the compressor stage of the engine itself as it bypasses the combustion chamber. Only a small amount of the air that gets compressed actually continues on through the engine to the burner cans (combustion chambers) and then out through the turbine wheels. Much of the thrust is really nothing more than a series of fan blades directly acting on the air.

This cooler, noncombusted air that travels around the outside of the engine completely engulfs the hot air at the rear of the engine. It completely surrounds and mixes with the higher energy air which helps to muffle it as well as cool it down. This is what the aero turbine muffler claims to do. It splits of the air and causes a temperature differential where the cooler air travels around the outside of the inner hotter gasses to combine at the tailpipe, supposedly having the same effect as that in a jet engine. It sounds good on paper. However the temperature differential isn't all that large comparatively and the amount of energy between then is roughly the same rather than the a high bypass having far more cooling airflow present.

I see this technology working in a small way but if it truly did anything useful to muffling, they wouldn't recommend a system that had a conventional muffler as a presilencer. I'm sure it does affect exhaust tone though which is what I suspect they are really hoping sells these. I jsut don't see them working too great as a dedicated muffling device. The real test would be to put one on an n/a 13B which has a far harsher exhaust note than a Renesis.

Yeah they dont work too great as a dedicated muffling device. If you want queit they have the XL versions which include a resonator inside of the muffler which brings the tone down a bit compared to the one I purchased. The sound is loud to me at high rpms and it gives it a deep rumble when idle, I purchased this exhaust system for sound alone if the other information mentioned was true thats just an extra bonus for me.

Really nice, I would like some incar and pass by videos as well.

Does it sound too mutch incar?

It seems to be enough space to fitt these mufflers also?

Alot of questions but im thinking of making a catback with these as a winter project just for fun. Would be cool to have on these free noise level trackdays. =)
