aem cold air intake growl.. help!

Ok, so I have the AEM cold air intake installed in my 8 and it started to get this growling sound around 7k rpm's and its started to get less and less every day. It's not been driven in any heavy rain and everything is tightened. Can anyone please let me know your opinion on this. maybe leaking air or something?

Are you receiving a CEL or noticeable power loss?
You're description of "growling" isn't explaining much.
When I had the AEM, it produced a growling sound, but you have to expect that after removing the VFAD and resonance chamber.

I did have water hit my MAF a couple times, which produced a gargling sound while the CEL flashed and had power loss.
So what I'm saying... if the car is running fine and you're going solely off of sound, probably nothing to worry about.
If you feel that there is some kind of performance loss, you can clean the MAF.
If you think there is a leak in the intake, check the cap on the VFAD nipple and make sure its not cracked or missing.

Also keep in mind that a "placebo effect" with the increased sound makes people believe they should be going faster than they are.

Well then... cleaning the MAF is simple:

Other issues that can occur is the VFAD cap missing or cracked, or one of the screens get damaged/dislodged.

I had a power loss, no CEL growl once. One of the spark plug wires came loose. May want to check them.

Is it a growl or a gurgle? My AEM made such a noise a while back (hard to describe but sounded like it was choking on too much fuel?). Also happened in the upper RPM's. No CEL and wasn't sure if there was a power-loss or not. Started it up the next morning and no more noise. Car still runs fine many thousand miles later.
